Not quite a guitar but so much fun

In between guitar builds I’ve managed to get the solid body electric ukulele out of my head and into reality, never done a from scratch build before so this was a challenging gentle but so much fun project. Found some bits of wood that looked like firewood, after cleaning it up I found beautiful European oak for a through neck and some camphor laurel with beautiful grain and a few holes in it which I filled with coloured resin for the rest of the body. Put a passive peizo under the saddle and hey presto it works. It’s been a real treat to make this instrument just as much as playing it.

Is the neck and fretboard scratch built too?

Looks great. Very unique and lovely pieces of timber.

Neck is from scratch but fretboard was bought on the net, ukes have such small fret wire I was pretty sure I’d stuff it up :)
Having success with this I’m encouraged to try an scratch build electric guitar now - love the process
