Waz, I think I have the record for longest completed project. I bought a body and neck in about 1987 and finished them will a light clear coat. Every once in a while, I acquired some parts for it, but did not really get back to it until 2019. By 2020, it was done! I don't even have a good excuse like "My government wouldn't let me near it".
There is one good thing about letting it sit. The wood in the neck and body age and stabilize. A lot of body and neck producers don't really let the wood age sufficiently before shipping. Not an issue for those of us who procrastinate ;-) Some people even claim that the tone improves if you let the wood age a bit.
