HI from NC
Hi, I have always wanted to build my own guitar. I recently met a fellow bassist who had made his own 5 string, not from a kit but from a chunk of mahogany and he has made many guitars. In talking to him, I found out just how available kits are and he has agreed to help me, so how can I turn that down right? I just ordered a PB bass kit and I can't wait to get started! I am a little stuck on how I want to finish it. I have some experience in furniture making as a hobby and love a good tobacco sunburst on a quilted body, but I think I will wait to see what the wood suggests. I see this as the first of many builds and wish I had started this many years ago.

Hi and welcome.
Yes, waiting until the body turns up to decide on a finish is a good decision and one I recommend.
Start a build diary when it arrives and ask as many questions as you want. All the best!

Hi PB4ME,
good luck with the build.

Welcome PB4ME.
I'm not a bass player, and whether building guitar or bass the basic processes crossover, but there are some differences as well. There are certainly lots of bass player/builders here that can help navigate those.
Look forward to seeing the build.
Cheers,
Mick
