Coil splitting Iron Gear pickups

I have a pair of Tesla Sharks and I want to wire them for coil splitting with push pull pots. I’ve wired many pickups, but never for splitting, so this is new to me.

My question is about the diagram on the Iron Gear website. It suggests that the two finish leads be wired to pin 3 with a jumper to pin 4 and the ground to pin 6 with a jumper to pin 5.

I’ve seen a lot of other diagrams that only use pins 3 and 5, with no jumpers.

I was wondering what the difference is.

Then it's just belt-and-braces, with both sets of contacts being used to connect the pickup coil middle connection to ground. They are there, not being used for anything else, so they might as well be used to improve the longevity of the installation. You can of course just use one set of the contacts and not have the links, so the middle connection to a centre pin and the ground to the pin directly below that one.

I often do the doubling-up on switch contacts.
