Are there any other options than the 3+3 Gotoh Vintage locking tuners?

I've bought a set for a mates guitar ( a 'G' style semi hollow body) and I don't really like them, especially compared to the grovers. I've stupidly ordered the wrong post height - but apart from that the mechanism for locking doesn't seem as good and the gears don't feel anywhere near as smooth as the grovers.

He is keen to retain the current look which are grover vintage style. Ideally I would like them but with the locking posts on them. No idea why that doesn't exist?

Or am I blind?

Pic for fun and attention.

I have only fitted the one set of locking Grovers on my EX-1 and not a huge fan either. Tend to find them a bit small in the button size and seem to lack the progressive feel of traditional Grovers or Schallers.

Sorry, that probably would have been helpful

They are these ones: https://www.realparts.com.au/tuning-machines/3-a-side/grover-3-a-side-deluxe-tuners-nickel.html

Ideally I'd like these exact ones, but with a locking post. Doesn't seem to be an option.

..I take it you mean the Gotoh's Waz? I really like the grover mini's I have on mine.

If it were me I'd put a custom set of more modern ones on with bigger 'ears', but he's not super keen on that idea. He's coming around after I finish work today so I'll chat to him then and show him what I can find.

Happy to have a look at any suggestions people may have.

Cheers.

Oops, Gotoh non lockers as you have stated.

With 40 odd years practice stringing up the old fashioned way, if the tuners gearing feels ok that is more important to me than locking or not.

Cheers, Waz

Yeah the ones on there already are pretty nice. It's just that he changes his strings like I change my socks and I mentioned how much quicker it is with lockers.

Those gotohs are the exact ones I have that I'm a bit unimpressed with.

The Klusons are more interesting I can see a 3 a side locking option. I've seen Kluson offered on various shops, but not with the locking option, maybe they are the ones I need. Can't seem to be able to find a price on that site.

And yep I saw that Marcel, but they have to be the Nickel ones... hope they aren't discontinued

Thanks for the links.

if you want fast string changes and super smooth gears, try some Duesenburgs. I love em.
