We do about 25-30% of our business on eBay these days.

I thought eBay would be a good place to push some kits that we are overstocked with.

I've started some auctions for kits like the 30" Scale SG Bass (you all asked for it and we have been sitting on the stock since they arrived)

I've also put up one of the new Floyd Rose style ST kits, an Ash LP, a lefty JEM style SV-1L, a TL-1R with rosewood fretboard, and a JK-2 Jackson style shredder with some tweaks.

Auctions start at 99 cents.

On eBay we are BuildYourOwnGuitar, but you can search Pit Bull Guitars to find us.

If you want to move the SG basses I'll happily offer $150 right now, regardless of auction.

Thanks Weirdy, would love to see one in your hands, but I'd be paying you to take one, by the time I paid the shipping to you.

The sale price of $189 covers our costs and the local shipping.

Put a bid in on the eBay auction, if you haven't already... then if you get one for $150 or less, we can write the loss off as "marketing".

hehe was hoping you'd have a moment of weakness ;) Don't worry mate, let the auction get you a new customer, the $189 sale price will do me just fine. Expect an order in the near future.

Yay !! I won the JK-2.... PBG build #4 on its way...

Thinking something in Jet Black might be in order this time, to create contrast with the rest of my heard...

Good one Marcel.

I had a few bids on the SG Bass but only had a budget of around $90 ATM and it went for just under $110. At least I hopefully bumped up the price for Adam anyways.

I did bid on a few others too Waz, but obviously for not enough. With this JK though, Put in a bid max, walked away and watched 'Angry Birds' on Foxtel with two of my visiting grand-daughters, came back to the computer to find out that I had won it... Awesome...

Threw in a few offers earlier on both the LPA and the STF but I was quickly outbid. As I already versions of those style builds I didn't mind not winning them. This will be a first JK build for me so it will be an interesting diversion from all my previous Fender/Gibson style builds...

I had an early bid on the JK but have just gotten over the instant noodle diet bought on my amp purchase and didn't want to get straight back on it. LOL

Know what you mean Dedman.

Hey Marcel, The JK is a pretty cool take on the traditional V with a bit more of an aggressive look and have to agree that Black would be the best colour, if not the only colour, to do it justice.

Marcel

I could go for a white body .... Then with the black hardware it could be my salute to my favourite AFL team ...lol

But I think Black would look meaner, more vicious...

Black & White AFL team??? Magpies perhaps?

Bouldercombe is a long way from any major AFL heartland but seems to be quite popular in CQ & FNQ regional centres.

when in doubt, black is always there for you.

NRL Cowboys since they started & AFL Magpies since I was a 3yo kid ..... What else is there ? ...

No doubt you would remember the Carlton v Collingwood rivalry in the 1970's when Jezza was playing for the Blues.

Cowboys would be just about everyone's favourite team. Some of the games between them and the Broncs have been epic.

Yeah Waz, And game gossip hasn't changed tone much since then. Went to a few Pies games as a young teen, Vs Nth Melb and Vs Tigers, and Vs the Cats and the Doggies...Hardest part was during the '70's none of the family wanted to see "those damn Pies games" so I had to devise other means to make the journey into and back from the city from Melton.

Everyone in my extended family in Victoria supports the Bull Dogs (Footscray) (many are fully subscribed members) and that was mostly only initially due to our families historic heritage ties with the colours of Red White and Blue and that nil VFL team of the time used straight Orange... Like one other cousin I just had to be different and support another team, that one cousin supports the Cats.. ,

With the NRL, during the Cowboys first year and as a promotion a couple of the guys came to the primary school that my kids were attending.... We met and chatted, the kids were all excited over NRL and the Cowboys, they gave us a signed ball and a men's wallet in Cowboys team colours, so we became supporters....and stuck with them... Still have the wallet and the ball.

As has always been the case I'm not allowed to watch the game of a team I'm (in my heart) supporting. No matter if it's AFL, NRL or State of Origin, If I do watch (live or TV) then it is guaranteed they'll loose that game... I do get to miss some Epics!!

Well to drag it back to the topic....
I watched the first 2 auctions through to the final countdown.
Was expecting the usual flurry of price hikes in the last few seconds as various snipe programs try to outbid each other.

It never came and the final price stood for many minutes.
There is hope for me on ebay yet.

cheers, Mark.

Did see some auto bidding on the SG Bass that pushed the price up.

So, a PBG box turned up yesterday. I thought "it's only a bass, I'll look at it tomorrow…". I was expecting what was listed on the web page (after Adam used his usual mind tricks to get me to buy another kit): a SGB-30 basswood body, 30.5" scale, 20 fret short scale bass.

What was in the box was a little unexpected.

hmm… that looks a little dark for basswood.

Make that a one piece mahogany body! Yep, one piece.
20727
20728

And, let's make that 22 frets instead of 20. The scale measures in at 761mm, so 30" rather than the 30.5" listed.

The headstock shape is a little different too.
20730

The body isn't without its faults, mainly some odd lumps and flat spots from shaping. But, I think I'll survive… one piece.

It looks pretty damn good straight out of the box, so I may have to re-think my plans a bit.

I'm not sure if this is a one-off, part of a different batch, a change to the specs, or just a model mix up - but I'm not complaining. Thanks Adam.

Now I just have to resist the temptation to Baritone'ify it.

Wow Weirdy mahogany goodness and one piece - mega score I'd take that anyday. Look forward to this build. Didn't know that you were that into the low enders haha

Nice. With the mahogany body you could go with a Gibson TV finish, or a nice classic cherry.

WeirdBits

The lure of cherry and a mudbucker/model one in the neck is strong, can't resist the Jack Bruce/Cream urge. Still adjusting to the fact it's a one piece.

Heritage Cherry gets my vote.

Hey Weirdy, sounds like I need to check all the stock and change the description (and photos). They have a habit of surprising us with different specs on guitars we've received before. Nice when they are pleasant surprises.

They did tell me they just started doing 2 piece Mahogany bodies, so the one piece is unexpected.

adam
16-07-2017, 12:09 PM
Fixed! Thanks for letting us know WeirdBits.

The bodies are indeed Mahogany and all the ones I checked are 2 Piece.

I've set the price back (sorry) as we were barely breaking even with the free shipping, GST and all other costs.

It's always nice to know when you've caused the price to be upped for everyone else ;)

Adam, the actual link for the kit still has SGB-34 in the path, rather than the new SGB-30 it's titled as now.

Alea iacta est!

DiMarzio Model One (http://www.dimarzio.com/node/2124) ordered, I'll start a diary once things get moving. No going back now.

You do know me, right?

I even pulled apart the neck mini-humbucker today (as it's being replaced) so I can explore options for tweaking/modding the stock bridge pup... very waxy. But, an idea has formed.

Adam if you can find another one piece body in your stock you can count me in for one.. what a score ..
