I may be wrong but it seems that the JB-5 series of kits have changed the Headstock's from 5 inline to 4+1. If so this is a good thing and I noticed at least one other Forum Member comment along similar lines recently. However, the pics on the website still shows them as 5 a side. This could be a deal breaker for some, it certainly was a turn off for me.
I might be a good idea to update the pictures or at the very least make a note of the Upgrade. After all people want to see what they are getting, and get what they see.....

While they're at it maybe make the MMB-4 a 3+1?

Hello gents, the photos of the pre-finished Sunburst & Trans natural show 4 + 1 whilst the kits have pre-shaped headstocks done 5 inline.....

Personally, I prefer the 5 inline where the only downside is a very long stretch to reach the G string's tuner.

the other thing I found with my JB5 (that has the 5 in-line tuners) was that it's too long for my gig bag ... looking for a longer one!

Yeah, same deal with the EX-5 which is also too long for most off the shelf hard cases.

Even my 4+1 only just fits in the case that used to comfortably hold my MM Stingray5...
I assume that the cases Pitbull sell as an option with their Bass would be a comfortable fit. Good value at $90.00 too.

hmmm ... measured my JB5 - it's around 126cm long ... the dimensions for the PBG bass case are 122 x 40 x 11 ...
maybe there's a market for custom made gig bags/hard cases for extra-long basses??

There probably is, and it has probably been exploited by expensive items.

For the EX-5 it is over 130cm long and I nearly bought a large keyboard case to custom fit the right shaped foam to hold it in place. It just squeezes into the Epiphone 6 string Explorer Guitar case but rubbing up on it's snout and the rear wing therefore prone to easy damage from the slightest bump. At 126cm that axe should fit into it. If you are seriously interested I will get the tape measure out and also drop my 4 stringer J Bass in to see how good the overall fit might be.

I believe there's possibly a licensing issue there as the 3+1 headstock is an Ernie Ball trademark. Not impossible, but possibly too expensive to be licensed.

Fender used to be tremendously litigious about their headstock shapes but I'm thinking that may have relaxed. EBMM might do likewise in the future.

My original post was primarily to ask the questions:

1. "Are the current PB 5 & JB5 Kits 5 a side or 4+1?" ( like the JBB5)
2. "if so, should the Picture be upgraded?"
I never got an answer to either.
