Hey guys, what about a ES-339 kit or is one available as a custom order? Mahogany or maple body with a veneer top would be nice too. Hmm..starting to melt with the ideas!

hey IRL what's the difference between a ES-339 and ES-335 ? The ES-1G is based on the ES-335 model.

I'd flick Ads an email and ask if a custom order is possible.

Woks, 339 is a smaller body.

The 339 is a smaller body version of the 335. Another idea could be a ES Les Paul kit (a semi hollow body les paul with f holes)

Sorry...just saw the ESV2 kit. Disregard that last comment about the ES Les Paul

That's the one but I don't want the cat included.

You'd probably have to live with basswood ply rather than maple or mahogany. But you should end up with a reasonable front and rear grain pattern if my ES-3 is anything to go by. Supposed to be all basswood but the front and back had a good figure on it. But a flame maple veneer for the top of a 339 style is certainly possible.

Simon, I can live with basswood as my TL-1Q has a great tone to it and it would probably add a bit of warmth to it. But it's always nice to dream, especially when it comes to a guitar.

Bass wood gets a bad rap sometimes, but really I cannot fault the tone. sure its different from say mahogany but I can't say that I haven't liked the tone I get from a basswood solid body or from a hollowbody.

I agree Andy. I like that basswood is kinda 'tone neutral' (as I read somewhere) so I found that it gives more latitude in tone. It warms up my Tele but still allows that classic Tele twang. The only drawback is it's softness, so drilling holes and avoiding dings can be an issue.

My ST-1 agrees with you ILR as even my pants button scratched it up.

haha IRL, as long as the camera isn't rolling

maybe we need to invent a little apron that covers any belt buckles or buttons on jeans etc.

@ Andy sucks you have scratched up your new paint job!

I have asked and they don't have plans for this 339 style model. They would have to make all new CNC plans, which they would not do without an order for 50+ kits.
