Have a tele with I think Alder body/maple neck and some hardware.
No pickups or tuners - choice of pickguard (may be able to scrape up a pitbull tuner set in my spares)
Have some hardware and screws etc..

Probably Brissy only pickup.

Hit me up by pm if interested.

Yep, it's Alder. Someone's going to have a lucky day.

Nice one Tony, this community never ceases to amaze.

would cost a slab but also have a metal pickguard / control plate set as an option.

Is the neck still available? I'm in Brissy so I can pick it up if it is. Thanks.

TLA1 has finally arrived at it's new home.

Thanks again Tony for your generosity and also organising a workmate to bring it up as far as Maleny. Dropped in and picked it up after work today and keen to get started soon.

Originally envisaged doing a copy of the Red J Bass colour scheme and then wondered how it would look natural. The following shots show a bit more of the grain and timber colours to work with....

and now what it looks like after a damp wipe...
1624316244

Clearly looks like 4 strips of timber glued together where the top piece is a much darker colour than the rest.

Here are some neck shots...

Fretboard has some interesting grain to work with.

Not sure how to create a poll within these forums and happy for any feedback on whether to do Red stain with white scratch plate, Natural with black scratch plate, or something darker and more sinister?

Will start a build thread soon once I figure out which colour scheme and theme to use.

I don't think a strait natural finish would look that good with the number of body pieces and the different wood colours - there's a reason Fender used alder for solid coloured guitars and ash for the sunbursts and clears.

If you are staining it, then I think you'd need something quite dark to tie it all together. If you were spraying, then you could try a butterscotch finish with a black scratchplate. The semi-opaque light-cream base coat would hide most of the join lines whilst letting some of the grain patterns through.

You're right Simon, 2nd plank down from the top is the lightest of the 4 used and the one at the very top is a few shades darker than bottom two.

Looking very much like dark & sinister will be the way to go as not keen on spraying as I am not set up to do such.

Cheers Andy. Any thoughts on colour scheme? The more I think about it this one might just end up black or could have a crack at a swamp effect like Kenfu's LP or Arzi's Barncaster.

I really liked your Dark & Sinister thought pattern, run with that!

Most of the time I have a general idea, but i never make my mind up until i have finished sanding. I do a lot of thinking about what would go with the grain as i am sanding.

If it were me....and only a suggestion...I'd visit that timber guy in Maleny and get some veneer and have a crack at doing a veneer, maybe some black binding.....if you muff it...you can always do a barncaster

I'm going to have to lurk on this thread to see if I can gain some inspiration for the TLA-TH...listen out for the "YOINK" as I steal ideas!

Thanks Andy & Frankie for you comments and encouragement.

Will start a build thread now I have got a general concept running through my head.
