Hello all
On my upcoming project I would like to customize the fretboard with easy to use (lazy) decals if possible.

These are what I'm looking at: https://www.inlaystickers.com/collections/fret-markers/standard

I am very worried that they will not last and fall off. Anybody use these in the past with any decent results?

Would top coating with tru oil or shellac help or hurt the build?

Thanks in advance :-)

What sort of decals are you looking at - if its fret dots, replacing them with shell is dead easy and would give a better outcome. Otherwise, you could try CA (super)glue - it is a good way to make fretless fretboards stronger. My fear with a decal is that it will get chewed up by the strings, especially if you bend.

Yup...I'm thinking this would be a bad idea. Maybe I'll replace the dots with abalone.

I think Gav T has used these or similar, good initial results, dunno about longevity

I've used them. Two years on and no lifting or moving, no top coat. Follow the instructions and you shouldn't have any problems

Jokomo does great stickers, they are a good affordable alternative.
