Looking to replace all electrics on my Carson re-build project.

I'm only chasing basic items, nothing fancy.
1 x Humbucker, black - Doesn't have to have surround or screws etc, I have them.
2 x Single Rails, black

1 x A500K Pot - Knobs optional
1 x B500K Pot - Knobs optional
1 x 5-Way Switch, black knob preferably
1 x 2-way mini switch, again, black knob if available, but will take silver also.

6 x Tuners, black. The one's I'm replacing are an unusual design in how they attach(In my opinion at least, I'm not that familiar with them) I'd like something similar so I don't have to re-drill the headstock.

And lastly, a replacement jack plug, black preferably, but will also take silver.

If anyone can assist, it would be most appreciated.

Just basic stuff Andy. If it's PBG kit parts then all the better.

Hi Zandit, some forum members may have unused PBG parts to offer and I would only suggest using the PUP's and maybe Tuning Pegs as the rest can be replaced with better stuff for not much extra coin, such as upgrade pots, output jack sockets & jack socket plates. The 2 way mini switch may need to be sourced elsewhere as I have not seen them on this site. I have used a few in the past and unfortunately you do need to buy quality such as Dimarzio as Chinese eBay specials are rubbish.

Likewise with those old style tuners as the internal gears are prone to slipping and have very little feel through the pegs. I have an inline set of Black that came standard on the EX-1 plus a couple of stock Humbuckers that were momentarily wired up to hear what they sounded like that you can have for the cost of postage otherwise you might need to budget somewhere between $50 to $100 and that is with using low end PUP's.

You should find most of these items on the PBG site or maybe you could try http://www.realparts.com.au/ or eBay might bring up some H-S-S combinations already pre-wired.

Much appreciated Waz.
Are you sure you only want postage paid for those items Waz? I'm willing to pay extra for them.
I just tried the tuners off my LP, and they will cover everything including the the extra holes from the old tuners, which as you mentioned have absolutely no feel to them.
I'll send you a PM with my delivery address for shipping.

Thanks again bud!!

Hi Zandit, responded to your PM and here are some shots of what you can pick from....
1416714168141691417014171
The Humbuckers were stock PBG's that came with the EX-1, the Original Magnum Single Coil came out of my Son's Korean built Magnum Strat Copy circa 1998 and strangely enough sounds really sweet but they have very brittle shoulders where the mounting screws are attached and this is the only one out of the 3 still intact, WSC Hot Stack Single Coil with 4 wires bought around 12 or so years ago for $39 as I had already bought a twin blade version that is smoking hot whereas this one was a bit more mellow and well suited to middle position. Didn't get around to trying it out with splitting the coils but it would appear some things can be done with it.

Here is the rest of my spare parts that are useable....
1417214173141741417514176
2 x Twin Blade PUPs with 3 way mini switches - these were cheapie Ebays and the PUPs sound OK but the mini switching did nothing and not sure if it was the PUPs, how I had them wired, or the switches, or a mix of everything? Tele PUP's are the stock ones that came with my DIY Tele and tried the bridge one out that sounds OK but not brilliant. Black inline tuners came with the EX-1 and surplus to requirements due to Locking Grover upgrade, likewise the pots, 3 way switch & output socket also leftovers from both Explorer upgrades - not sure about the 'B' rating on pots and think that might mean they are linear taper rather than audio and thus better suited for tone pots I believe. Lastly I received a square recessed jack plate that cost $4 in the mail today that was meant for the EX-5 but it is just a bit too small to hide the screw holes from the original oval shape jack plate.

Let me know what you want. Only things of any real value are the Hot Stack PUP and the new jack plate that arrived today. Happy if anyone else wants to contact me for some of the leftovers that you don't need or want.

Cheers, Waz.

Edit: I think I have most of your wish list sorted here except for the 5 way switch and recommend you buy an upgrade as most stock kit ones are unreliable pieces of crud. PBG has them for $22.50 http://www.pitbullguitars.com/shop/upgrades/all-parts-crl-5-way-switch-for-st-and-tl-kits/ or this really basic cheapie from Real Parts who would also have black switch tips too http://www.realparts.com.au/electronics/lever-switches/import-5-way-lever-switch.html

If you are wondering about the mini switches, they are supposed to be on-on-on and if upgrading make sure you these and not on-off-on as you would limit the number of sounds you can get. The on-on-on allows for 'Normal' which could be humbucker status, 'Split' coil, and then 'Out of Phase' but mind you some of the sounds can be hard to distinguish if the PUPs are not smokinly hot.

You're a dead-set legend Waz, thanks for this info.
I'm interested in your tuners, plus the humbucjers and the two singles in your first post.
In laymans terms, what's the difference between the two humbuckers? I'm unfamiliar with the two values you have written down.
As you suggested, I'll grab a 5-way switch off PBG, and source a little 2-way switch.
The existing two way switch was used on the humbucker to split the coils. Would one of those 3-way mini switches work with it do you think, and what would it do overall?
I'm thinking the jack cover will be too wide, but thanks for showing it to me.

There's no hurry in getting back to me, but thank you for going trough your gear so thoroughly.
Let me know what you want for the goods, and we'll get payment sorted.
Thanks again!

Hi Zandit, the difference between the 2 Humbuckers is that the lower value is generally a neck PUP and the higher value therefore goes in the bridge position. Should mention that these stock Chinese PUP's come in 2 wire not 4 wire and would require some modification to convert to enable coil splitting via a mini switch. It can be done and someone has posted a 'How To' on this forum a while back, probably best to experiment on the neck one first just in case you stuff things up as that one was most likely going to be a spare or backup anyways.

With the 'Hot Stack' it would go best in the middle position and if you want it can be used with a mini switch and happy to throw one of them in from the pair of rails. The other single coil with 5.7k resistance would be better in neck position and for a generic PUP they sounded quite good, nice and clean. Will also throw in the A & B 500k pots too.

We can discuss Postage etc by PM.

Thanks for the quick lesson, most appreciated.
The humbucker that was in the guitar originally had a white and red wire plus bare strands all encased in a grey sleeve. I'll figure something out.
That all sounds great. I'll fix you up in regards to payment via PM.

Sorry Zandit, I totally forgot about this thread. Cheers Waz for saving. Is there anything else you need?

No worries Andy, I'm pretty sure everything is taken care of.
The only thing I'm waiting on is the input jack, which should be here this week sometime. I've picked up some wire from the local Jaycar supplier, so all I need to do once the Jack arrives is wait for the finish to cure, and I'll start wiring things up!
Thanks for the follow-up!
