well done Andy good to see some decent pics of the build. Was worth the wait, it's come up very nicely and some tasty upgrades. Looks like a bone nut you didn't include in the upgrades list. Looks like its not tuned up for the pics not much string tension on the head (or they look like old strings). How does it sound and play what's the verdict ? How did it intonate ?

Ahh yes it is a DB bone nut special. Yes they are the kit strings that I have re-used a few times and very kinky but its in tune. The intonation is slightly sharp but the best that I could achieve with those strings (i'm going to have to re-intonate when i put '10's on it anyway). I need to file the bone nut down slightly as its a tiny bit high. and theres one loosish connection under the volume knob thats driving me bonkers that i'll have to re-solder .....once I can stop playing long enough to remove the control cavity.

The Tone riders sound beautiful. They are extremely lyrical and you can get a an amazing range of tones out of them in the tele.

This is my TL1-TH, the 'Hold Fast'. Finish is eucalyptus green spray can with poly' over top, scraped binding and hand drawn name on headstock.
Mostly stock hardware except for the recessed jack socket, triangle neck plate, strap buttons and white top hat selector switch knob.
I converted it to a string through body, copied the headstock shape from a Trussart Steelcaster, and reshaped the pick guard to more closely resemble the original. Cavities all shielded with copper tape and it's quiet as the grave.
Only other thing I will do to it is swap to a bone nut, was going to upgrade pickups but the stock ones sound so good I won't bother.
Had a blast building this and love playing it, hope you enjoy it.

My first build and it came out better than I wanted to so thought I'd enter it for GoM.

It started as a base ST kit, sanded, sealed and primed. Black acrylic base coat applied to the neck and body. Light white base coat over the black and while still wet layered cling wrap onto the wet paint. After a few seconds pulled off the cling wrap to leave a marbled finish.
Next came a light black airbrushed sunburst around the body, neck and headstock followed by 5 coats of Port Red candy (5% concentrate mixed with acrylic clear ). After the candy came 5 coats of clearcoat. Sanded back to a flat surface and then bought back to a deep shine with cutting compound and auto polish.
Finished it off with some chrome covers, knobs and switches.

Two months work on and off, but well worth the time

Judges comments in submission order:

Daneo933's STA-1
Like the detail with the neck plate, but not sure that the trem cover at the back does it for me…

Very nicely finished.

What a classic STA-1. Surf green, vintage yellow neck. Love it. The pearloid pickguard looks really good and I love the decal.

A popular combination surfer strat and this one has been well put together with some tasty personal touches, well done.

J.P's TL-1
Love the classic lines and colours on this one.

You've done a great job!

Excellent work, looks fantastic.

Another classic shape and colour.

Looks almost like TV yellow. I love the stacked humbucker in the bridge too.

Another fantastic looking gold tele, well finished and extra half a point for the 4 way switch mod. I'm sure everyone would love this axe in their collection.

FredA's IB-5
Attention to details - grea that all the bling is gold!

Nicely done!

Very classy, the hardware finishes it beautifully.

Love this build Fred. The gold hardware pops well on the walnut body.

Finish looks like it has gone on super flat which is great.

Fred always raises the bar with his builds and the gold and dark brown combo really suits this bass. Nice choice of hardware this is a stunner well done.

Andy40's TLA-1R
Beautiful depth in the colour - nicely delivered!

Well done the grain pops, looks great.

Really scored with the figure on this TL’s body. I think the natural stain suits it to show it off.

Nice details like the gold saddles on the bridge.

This build had alot of issues on the way and you overcame them and an extra half point for posting a video demo those Toneriders sound sweet. Tele's seem to feature well in the GOTM and this is one sexy build great job Andy.

Ricardo's TL-1TH
Sweet colour - the eucalyptus goes so nicely with the maple neck.

Overall beautiful effect.

Plain yet beautiful, nice headstock.

One of my favourite builds I’ve seen for a while. Melamine green suits this guitar so well and I love the top hot switch. Hold Fast logo looks great on the stock.

Nice choice of colour really suits this model tele, love the cool modifications and the simplistic look rocks out nicely, good job Ricardo!

NitroBurner1000's ST-1
Nicely done with the upgrades.

Colour is very nice!

Classy guitar, well finished, love the headstock. A very different take on the ST kit. I like the headstock shape but it’s a shame that the neck’s colour didn’t match the body.

The finish on this kit was extremely well done.

For a first build this is really well finished with some cool upgrades. Only small thing I would have liked to see the neck and headstock colour matching the body colour closer but that's easier said than done ! You should be proud of this build.

Marelton's ST-1
Candy red is amazing!

I'd love to see this one in action!

Wow, this is awesome, great finish. Patience does pay off.

One of the best executed finishes I’ve seen on the forum. The candied red really looks great over the marbled black. Nice touches with the chrome bits.

Love the marble paint effect and the black and deep red colours makes this axe look like a real show axe. Sure this axe would walk out of a music store in no time. Wow 6 out of 7 entries from the 'F' family they have dominated this month!

And the runner up:

Marelton - I think the judges couldn't get over how good the candied red looked!

Congratulations to all who entered. The quality of all the guitars was really high and with less than a point separating most of the field across a couple of judges, it only goes to show what you can do with a kit! Hope everyone enjoys their builds - the outcomes are spectacular!
