Hi Stan,

I grabbed a couple of these files and they are actually in PSD format. (The native Photoshop format).

Apparently the site author transcribed them from PDF into PSD. So you will need Photoshop to use them.

By the by, his transcription seems pretty good.

You don't necessarily have to have Photoshop installed on your computer to view the downloaded PSD files, as it turns out, Irfanview supports PSD files, but unlike Photoshop, Irfanview is free to download.

http://www.irfanview.com/

If you're interested in downloading Irfanview, I would strongly recommend downloading the plugins and addons file for Irfanview while you're at it.

good advice there Doc, well done. I'm sure DB's IT tech support would have suggested that LOL

Cheers mate, Irfanview can actually be used to convert image files to different formats, so you could use it to convert a PSD file to say a jpeg image, I haven't tried it yet though, but it should be do-able since Irfanview does let you choose what format to save files in.

Update:

I just checked what formats Irfanview can save files in and yes, you most certainly can save files in a different format, one of the different file formats you can save in is PDF, which I reckon should prove useful since you can use Foxit PDF Reader (another bit of free software) to view and print-out PDFs.

Hahahahaha....good one...my PC knowledge was learnt partly by asking others, partly from doing some reading, partly from formal Uni training/education, and partly from self-teaching, there's no substitute for hands-on practical learning.

I just got back home from visiting the big green shed for some materials and a couple of new tools, the materials are for doing some restoration work on my Gold standard Strat so that I can install a traditional-style Strat bridge onto the body, managed to find some Oak doweling to plug the two 10mm holes I drilled in the body, but I could only buy some 9.3mm Oak doweling, I'm going to plug all the original bridge pivot screw holes and re-drill them again later on once I get the new bridge, which is going to be a SuperVee Bladerunner Strat Bridge, gold-plated of course, I also ordered a new all-maple neck and white pearloid scratchplate for it too, will demo the strat through the Marshall amp once it's up and running mate.

Hi there, I just hit the link for the telecaster PDF on my phone, it opened and I had a look and got redirected to dodgy sites. Then when I closed straight away another site opened saying I was hacked 36 times and to click to get rid of them. I closed that too. I just hope I haven’t been hacked. Probably needs someone to check these are safe to remain On here

A lot of the file hosting/download services have very dodgy advertising practices. I scanned the hosting site (https://sitecheck.sucuri.net/results/docdro.id) and it doesn't report malware so you should be safe. A lot of those ads are intended to scare you into clicking through to something else.

Might be time to find a new hosting solution. Are there any copyright or redistribution issues with the templates? Who made them? Does anyone have a complete set? Somewhere like GitHub would be a much safer solution provided that sharing them doesn't breach the terms of use.

There's also Guitar Herald (https://www.electricherald.com/guitar-templates/)

I've used the site above with no issues, and they have a pretty comprehensive list.
Still haven't done a scratch build yet though :o
