Photoshop.

If you don't have it you can get Gimp for free I believe it is a very good photo manipulator

I use CorelDraw. If you need some help, I'd be happy to lend a hand.

Try www.cooltext.com - pretty easy to get something up and running. Heaps and heaps of fonts - to get something like this, play around with logos and building a composite logo - basically two logos - Mc Grazy and Custom Guitars. I think I used the Legal style for both words and changed it to black with black highlights.
Then you can work around the fonts until you get one that you like.

The site will let you download fonts that you like as well.

You can buy A4 sized sheets of transfer paper on eBay for not much money and suggest you print draft sample of plain paper first to figure out sizing as that is what I did with my 'Faker' 'Wazz Bass' and 'Faker' 'Wazzacaster' decals plus the XXXXplorer decals too. Ended up laying out plenty on the one sheet in case I stuffed things up and consequently have plenty left over and only used one of the 3 sheets of transfer paper.
