Hi Guys
Don't know if anyone has suggested a Charvel Surfcaster style guitar. But they are cool with a flame maple top and lipstick pickups

No takers for a surfcaster... I'm shattered lol
Might have to mod a jazzmaster??

I am a massive fan of the Surfcaster, I suggested it as a kit via email a while back. I would love a version with the humbucker/lipstick combo and tun-o-matic style bridge!!!!

I am also a huge Surfcaster fan. Not sure they have the mass appeal to warrant a kit though. I would buy one though, just sayin.

Of course I like em! I like all the more unusual stuff . Jag with a Gibson neck might work, not sure about the scale though

would need some pretty heavy mods Dedman and I'd say different scale lengths of F type (25.5") and G type neck (24.75") the bridge would need to be moved forward

didn't the Jazzmaster have a shorter scale? All sounds like special order to me LOL

Hey Dedman maybe the real Jazzmaster had a shorter scale but I checked the JM-1 kit the scale length is 648mm which is standard F type 25.5 inches

demmit! :p
Now that is cool, a proper jag style kit with all the chrome and switches would be cool too

That greenburst is magical. A surfcaster kit would surely turn a few heads, its the perfect blend of a Rick and a Fender I recon.

It gets confusing because the Jagmaster had either a 24 or a 25.5 inch scale depending on when and where it was made
Jazzmaster 25.5
Mustang 24 or 22.5 option
Charvel Surfcaster 25.5
So in other words probably dosen't matter lol:confused:

So I've found a rough cut Jazzmaster blank and I think I will have a go at a scratch build. I will let you know how it went in about two/three years....

welcome to the forum Tiltbell,
wow 2 or 3 year wait, maybe start a build diary at least. Blank looks great, what sort of timber is it ?

I have actually been collecting up a few parts for a while for the project. The body is western (soft) maple. I have some 3mm maple for the top also. Will have to get the body thicknessed down a few mm and rout out the section where the f-hole is before dropping the top on. When the body lands I will take some happy snaps of where its at. Gotta finish a couple of amp projects first though.

I think this is the coolest. Might have a go at a scratch build. Not sure when tho
We did enquire about a Surfcaster a while back and the factory said they didn't have the pans or hardware for it. We'd have to order a huge quantity (100+) to motivate them to try harder, but even then there's no guarantee it will be what we wanted... Coronado, anyone?

I would definitely build a Coronado if you could stock one Ads.
cheers,
Gav.
You must've blocked that out of your memory, Gav. I was referencing one time they didn't get it quite right... We ordered a Coronado style kit and got an ES-1G body with a 6 in line headstock.

Then they did such a good job with the Starcaster style kit... as you know.

Damn yeah OK Ads, I remember now. My comment stands if they could ever get it right :P.

Yeah, didn't really think that one would happen. Thanks for trying though, Adam.
