Just wondering which is the best technique to use when applying finishing coats of Dingotone to a maple fetboard.

Staining should be no problem (bloodwood, chasing vintage amber), but if I apply the finishing coats along the neck (with the grain) is buildup at the frets likely to be a problem? Should I be applying across the fretboard (against the grain)? Or should I be springing for nitro or poly to guarantee no problems?

Wouldn't want to have to sand off between frets if I get it wrong.. anyone have any experience with this issue? Cheers!

Personally, I would apply the colour coat against the grain (with the frets) so that colour is even as you say. The apply DT wax to the fretboard. I've used it and it both locks in the colour and gives a really nice playing surface.

cheers,
Gav.
