Hi,
just ordered this kit, and was wondering if anyone had ideas on how to shape the headstock to be similar to the Fender Starcaster. It has a scalloped painted section.

welcome to the forum Muzzh,
have a look at there's another Starcaster build not sure if he scalloped the headstock like the picture,

have you got any basic carving tools, files, jigsaw, sandpaper ?
You could rip off some of the edge width with an orbital sander used carefully, then possibly some rounded chisels to shape the inner edge. Its been done on the forum before but I can't remember who did it !

Thanks Wokkaboy. I have plenty of sandpaper left from my previous kit. Also have a dremel 4000 with the normal kit attachments as well as a finishing sander.

Was thinking of using the finishing sander to get an flat "angle". Then sanding using a shaped sanding block or perhaps one of those rounded cutting bits on the dremel. Probably best to practice on a piece of wood first I imagine, don't really trust my (non) woodworking skills, although I'm looking forward to this build as a bit of a challenge.

I'll search the forum for other FS builds.

Cheers

no worries Muzzh, a dremel and shaped sanding block should work well.
But yes good advice practice on a scrap piece of wood, it will be harder to get to the standard of the photo than it looks.
