Hello, what would happen if i dingo toned my guitar, then put on a spray acrylic on top to make it a gloss finish?

Hi Aiden,
I asked the same question to Dingobass (he created Dingotone) and it is currently untested. Maybe get a scrap bit of wood and test it?

Try the Dingotone top coats, they can harden as much as Acrylic can if you let it cure, even though the time to finish will take longer as it is completely natural.

Hi Aidan, best wait for Dingobass to answer this, there might be a clash but not sure as I've never tried this combination.
Most likely DB will just send you to the naughty room for asking the question haha.

As Keloooe suggested maybe apply couple of coats of Dingotone on scrap wood and see how the acrylic clear goes over it

No worries Aidan, hope the build goes well! What are you planning? You should start a build diary under the "My Build Diary" subforum so we can all keep up with the build and provide further help!

nice one Aidan, hopefully it does turn up Tuesday.
In the meantime look for some scrap wood to apply the bondi blue stain then try spray acrylic over.

When the Australia Post van arrives it feels like Christmas has come early, especially with a first build!

Keen to see an explorer in bondi blue, should be pretty cool!

Haha yeah DB we need more staff at the naughty bar and pizza kitchen too. Shall we paint the naughty warehouse dark green? Haha

Hey Aiden, I would suggest based on my experience with Tru-Oil that it probably isn't such a good idea. Now DB will be the first to say that TO and DT are miles apart (and they are) but I believe DT does have oils in it, and I think this is the reason my acrylic didnt stick properly when I tried this with TO. It may also be that I didnt leave enough tooth for the acrylic to stick to, so maybe it will be OK.

cheers,
Gav.

But as DB said to be it should harden up nicely if you give it plenty of time to cure, like 4 days
