We ordered this custom IB-7 for someone and (surprise, surprise) the factory messed it up.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with the kit, it's just not to the specs the customer wanted.

It's got a basswood body with a beautiful quilted maple top. All black hardware. Maple neck with rosewood fretboard, 22 frets and 624mm scale length.

There are no bridge holes drilled, but it does include a Tune-O-Matic bridge.

Your a mean temptress Adam. This looks kind of like mine. Very tempted but must. Hold. Back. Gas.

tempting Ads, love the quilted maple tops, so there's no binding on these is there ?
the tuners look chrome in the photo but must be the angle.
Your's Andrew has the floating tremelo

Nah my custom order was string through with a tom, holes drilled, quilted top and a 27" scale. Coming Jan.

oh ok Andrew you got a custom one coming. I was thinking the one you have already build in your avatar is a stock IB7

Yeah mate that's a stock one, but got another on order.

so 27" scale will almost be a baratone hey Andrew ?
should be a deep sounding beast !

Hope so. Will probably go to drop g, and I'll either nab an 8 string kit when they launch or build one.

your only 25 off 4 figure posts Andrew, thats impressive for 5-6 months mate ! Drop G thats super looooooowwwwwwwwwww

Yeah I talk too much haha. Sure is mate, but the 8 string will be drop e, so the lowest note will be the same as the low e on a standard bass. Broooootal.

Actually Andrew I did some more digging and this is yours, but they got everything wrong: incorrect body wood, wrong scale, wrong number of frets, no quilt on the headstock. They got the "no bridge holes" right, so there's that. We're hoping the one due in January is correct.

Don't tell me that haha. As for the bridge holes, I thought I specd for the holes to be drilled as I don't have a drill press big enough to do it.

It's been a while so I may be wrong.

Haha ok they got that wrong too. I've changed the way we do custom orders so hopefully the new system works better.

I thought in the back of my mind this IB7 could have been Andrews order, well there you go. Sure it will sell Ads at that price

Sad face haha. Oh well it'll be worth the wait.

I wouldn't worry about the wait Andrew, January will be here in no time and you got all those slabs of wood to work on !

Yeah mate and we are going overseas for Christmas so won't be around for 6 weeks anyway. Maybe Adam if it does come in Jan, I'll let you know when I'm home so it doesn't get sent to an empty house.

We'll email you when it arrives and no worries if you're not around, you've paid a deposit.

good work Tony you must be getting a pretty good collection of axes mate !
This build will be a stunner and you have the option for a string through or a full contact bridge.
I'm yet to build a quilted maple axe so I was very close to buying this but still got too many projects on !

was a bright note to a crappy day - and already has a new owner lined up.
@Wokka I have too many axes! And spend no time badly playing them
The only way to currently justify new kit building is to do them for mates. Slowly gearing up for scratchies.

And... sold. I think that is going to make one really nice guitar.

Also, I think that's about it for Forum special deals, the "seconds" and "incorrect orders" cupboard is now well and truly empty.

Agreed Adam, looking forward to seeing this one come together.
