Hey guys, I'm building a TL-1, and have carved the top and back so that it's got strat -style contours and a soft contour under the lower horn for better upper fret access. I've sanded to 240grit, but there are still a few little pores I want to smooth out. So two questions: what colour timbermate to use so it's nearly invisible (the TL-1 is just a few lumps of timber stuck together so I'm not looking to pop grain or anything, really don't want to highlight the grain at all) and what sanding can I go down to before applying dingotone?

Oh, a third question, the body will be karijini red and I want the plain maple neck and headstock; should I order clear coat for the neck or is it the same as the DT finishing coat, and what to do about the fretboard, coat or not? (thats four questions now).

Thanks guys!

Sounds nice.

Sand, sand, sand and sand again..... Right up to 400 grit and you should not need to do any pore filling :)

Sounds like you want a colourless neck kit and Dingotone Guitar wax for the fingerboard.

DB can read minds and sand at the same time, shows you that man can actually do two things at once, contrary to what women think haha

no worries Fatmunkey,
sanding is a bit of a ritual on the forum, so get used to the process and it pays off when you get the finish on

Hey just another quick one, when I get the clear finish kit and the wax, do I apply finish to fretboard or just neck, and wax only the board?

Finish on the back of the neck and headstock. Wax on the fretboard.
