Well whilst waiting for the nebular to cure up I thought I would start the next challenge.
A hollow body Tele machined from a solid lump of Louisiana swamp ash with a flame maple sound board.

I get all excited in the way launching a fine dine menu does. This just sounds like art mate.

MMmmmm just realized the wiring is going to put me in the same padded cell that the ES did . OK who wants to wire up the thing lol....

Gavin1393
16-09-2014, 02:57 PM
Let the Gavmeister do it, after all I developed the 6mm tube concept! (hahaha, as soon as I get this awesome guitar in my grubby little hands, Jarrod will never see it again - did I just say this out loud?)

bargeloobs
16-09-2014, 07:30 PM
Truly astounding man, so I'm guessing you'd need a fairly thick hunk of maple for the cap before the cnc has her way with it? What sort of stock are you working with here?

Dude! Stop it! Your beautiful creations are taunting me!

jarrod
16-09-2014, 10:09 PM
Gav ya crack me up,
Thanks pab im trying to come up with new challenges with each axe but man its hard.
Bargy the cap was 6mm stock and the swamp ash was 45mm stock.

Andrew do you really want to djent on an 8 string tele ? Lol 8-)
Anyhooos here is the mock build. Not bad to say two days ago it was solid blocks of wood.
What colours do you reckon guy's?
I was thinking vintage amber with a red/orange burst. Oh and I'm just waiting for my mop binding to come and she will bound.

The MOP will set it off nicely

So beautiful.

I used the same bridge on my guitar, really like it, but my action is a little high with, what I think is the bridge all the way down.

Let me know how your action goes with that bad boy when you get there, as fixing it is on my "long term not really important" list of to-dos. Could be my nut

Gavin1393
18-09-2014, 12:20 AM
When this is complete we should take the finished product to a few of the music stores, I can see plenty orders coming in.....

I have sunk the neck 2mm lower in the neck pocket to get the strings lower to the body face, i have milled the bridge shape into the body face to lower that too so actiom height is fully adjustable.

Gav lets see how she plays first lol....

jarrod
18-09-2014, 12:00 PM
Between this and the Nebular (which will soon be finished) I am getting my own line together . One more design to add to the line up and then I'm thinking of marketing the guitars . I have with drawn my guitars from my local music shop as I would rather be seen as a local builder of quality not production . And that little shop does not open enough doors.
Any thoughts which way I should go or could these maybe be sold as top end kit's. Thoughts people?

Looking unreal mate. To answer your q, yes. Yes I do. Something appealing about a classic shape, thin fast neck and a few extra strings.

18-09-2014, 02:13 PM

sounds good Jarrod, sure people would pay more for quality kits, have to think about what hardware you will provide and the cost of the kits. If the price is above $500 then you may lose a few buyers. Great idea though. Sure between PBG and yourself you can work it out

Thanks Gav but change in colour, wife suggested a blue so I ran with it.

stan
22-09-2014, 05:42 AM
i think you should try your local shop at first and sell complete guitars. I think it shows off the quality better. I dont think people will buy a high end kit that is close to the cost of a complete guitar. They look at the $ not the craftsmanship.

If you get your name out there, then try bigger stores. Also online, get a nice website up, all the bespoke makers seem to have one.

Whereas with a complete instrument, quality is first priority.

Guitar shows too, get some product at one of these... And dont look passed wood working shows either

22-09-2014, 06:58 AM
