hi guys,

Here is my submission for GOTM September.
It is my RC-1 "Stone Roses Tribute" guitar.

It has been finished in acrylic with satin Nitro clear coats. The electronics are all stock except for a switchcraft jack and oval jackplate. The neck is wudtone clear neck finish for a silky smooth action, and the fretboard has been treated to Dingotone guitar wax.

Other additions are few - I filed a custom bone nut, and created a custom Rickenbackerish truss-rod cover. Andy made the truss-rod logo, without which this build would not be half as awesome ;) . I have to thank him for the generous amount of time he put into it - that's custom lettering, hand shaped to fit the cover folks!! Many thanks Andy.

Cheers for the judges consideration.

LOL. Thanks guys. I must admit I was waiting for Adam to start the thread. ;) Given your last 2 entries Wokka, and given the quality of the current builds in the forum, I certainly wouldn't be calling it just yet!! All you guys with fantastic builds on the way?? *build slower* haha!

Top work Gav, great to see the second incarnation come up so well. Total package looks great, well done mate.

All too often a redo only echos what could have been the first time around - in this case - it lives up to it and more

"Enter your finished guitar here to be judged for Pit Bull Guitars July Guitar of the Month."

Here's my submission. I've just finished this Pitbull SV1L kit. These kits are a great canvas to work from. As a lefty I like to build rigs that are a little different from the rest. I liked the idea of a cobra carved into the slinky JEM body to go with the great vine inlay on the rosewood fretboard. The headstock and neck are stained to match and give it a whole serpentine feel. Stain is via a Kiwi tan boot polish rubbed well into the timber and polished with a good bit of elbow grease that leaves a nice satin sheen. Not conventional but has a great result. I hope you like it. :)

holy cow Matt, we've only seen about one or 2 other carved entries and this is immaculate, I got no idea how many hours it took to carve this top but I'm guessing a lot of hours ! Have you added shapes to the headstock ? Would love to know how you have made it look like one piece of timber.
Don't think I'll even bother entering this month, the 2 entered the bar is already very close to 10/10.
Well done Matt ! I'll check out your FB page, I've heard of Mongrel Dog Guitars somewhere

The level of craftsmanship, though, skill and execution on these axes are simply incredible. They make $3000 store bought guitars look gerneric and cheap! Really well done, and like everyone said, I don't envy the judges this month.

Apologies for the delay folks, we were just waiting on some final scores.

Ok, the Runner Up for September Guitar of the Month is Gavin Turner with his "Pollocked" Stone Roses Tribute RC-1.

http://www.pitbullguitars.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/00zu3-no.JPG

"Seeing the progression of this build, it has been something amazing to see. Wonderful concept, beautifully executed. Hard to find anything to fault with this one."

"Another classy build from Gavin. Fanbloodytastic. I would be scared to pick it up in case I damaged it."

"Another freakishly beautiful RC. The patience of Job unless explosives were used. Gav's guitars are always top quality and this is certainly right up there."

"As you probably know I'm a sucker for tribute guitars! but this one would really catch your eye! great eye for detail and the application of the finish is done really well. As always Gavin has done another great job and the little extras such as the bone nut and truss rod cover completes this awesome looking guitar!"

And, it must be the month for Rickenbacker tributes, the winner of September Guitar of the Month is Lunatic Thigh's RC-4.

The judges were throwing out some 10's for this one.

http://i.imgur.com/eHJm9rw.jpg

"What an awesome looking Bass !! The Chrome hardware and the mirror pick guard really sets it off - Love the head stock design with the truss rod cover that mirrors the fret inlays !! Great job !"

"Beautiful, Elegant, classic and WOW! Sigh! I would learn to play bass just to play this guitar."

"I love this Bass. This would be the one I would pick up in a shop."

"Totally want this bass. No question. If it was on the market, I’d be considering selling a guitar to buy this one."

Congratulations LunaticThighs.
