Guys, It has become very clear to me, and probably Gav too, as we seem to be building a lot of double cuts. Well for me it was supposed to be just two, now it's three.

There are two main styles the '54 style and the '58/59 style.

People like Gav love the symetry of the '54 style, while actually the most popular Double cut is the '58/59 style. The 58/59 is an asymetric design.

The 54 style is what I call a lazy double cut, it is really a single cut LP Junior with the top loop cut out for a horn.
The '58/59 is a unique style all of it's own design. It is not a rehash of anything else it has it's own uniqueness.

There are many famous people that regularly use the '58/59 double cut. Keith Richards for one.

They are by far the most popular Double cut on the market.

I would suggest that instead of the current double cut set neck junior on offer that you actually replace it it with a 58/59 style double cut junior.
with an option to be built from Mahogany.
The actual additional cost for a mahogany built kit versus a Basswood is about $12. and I think abot the same for gold hardware.

I have visited quite a few sites where I have seen the prices for Mahogany '58/59 double cut kits for $350USD and $425GBP. Oh and one at $189USD, the key factor of course being quality.

Cheers PK

PK,
Now you have sparked my interest. I have a soft spot for a DC Junior, but the special type with twin P90's.
This is what I currently have on my bench, cutting out the templates now testing them before moving on to decent timber. The plans I have are based on the 59 model.

I support this idea. I am on board.
