TL kit in Ash. Not the greatest photographer. But I really like how it sounds. You can expect a demo when my DIs get here

Really happy with the electrics, also.

And the electronics which turned out good for my skill level (i.e. zero);
http://a.pomf.se/egkvhq.jpg

In order they are Volume (Bridge on bottom, neck on top), Tone (Bridge on Bottom, Neck on Top), Pickup Selector for humbucker (Series, Parallel, furthest from bridge only, closest to bridge only), Ground Selector for the hum (couldn't find a suitably small rotary switch to have it all on one), and then an ON/ON/ON which functions both as a stereo/mono toggle (center being mono, the left/right determines which channel is L and R) and a pickup selector (anything to the Ring is grounded when playing mono) - center being both.

Tone caps are Russian Military Teflon rated at a whopping 0.012uF

Hey guys,

Thanks :) And special thanks to Pablo for the pickup surrounds!

@Lawry haha the headstock is really handy when using it in class to teach kids the parts of a guitar and violin!
And yeah, a demo will be up when I feel a bit better, when I sort out my wiring and make a suitable cable. Unless something happens it'll be up before the end of the month easily.

nice looking axe Barry, so this is a BC-1 kit ?
love the look you got, have the gear wheels been air brushed with stencils ?

barrylicious
22-07-2014, 06:58 AM
Yeah. Come up better than I expected.
A mix of stencils airbrushed and good old fashioned paint brush work.
I was almost tempted to countersink and screw the gears and cogs into the wood. Maybe next time.

Hi, Wayne here from 4D Guitars, my entry is a ST-1 kit. Burst is a FW black/wudtone burning sun. Back is FW black with some cedar stain to make a 'coke' colour effect. Black checkerplate pickguard was found on ebay. Pickup covers, knobs, wammy tip and switch tip changed to black. Camphor veneer on headstock. Light yellow stain on back of neck. I call it the industrial look with the tobacco burst and checker plate guard.

Hi guys
My submission for this months comp. I built this for my 9 year old daughter Ash. who's only request was that it was green. I always loved this sea foam green colour like that the Jems come out in so I got the local Auto paint shop to mix me up some metallic sea foam green and then I thought that a nice pearl binding and scratch plate would go well with it. The chrome controls were a after thought that i had laying around and i designed the head stock logo to make it more personal! She loves it and i hope you guys do as well!
Cheers

Really impressive sense of style, IMHO.

Big thanks to our Judges, including Guest judge Gavin T, it was another very close competition with only a few points separating all five entries. No guitar scored below 8, which really speaks to the quality this month.

The Runner Up (by half of one point) for August is...

Wokka's STA-1

http://www.pitbullguitars.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/o660p-front.jpg

"Oozes class. Should be handicapped to give others a fair go! Great colour contrasts and well thought out."

"Wow I love this, simple but beautiful. Nice job Wokka."

"Wokka's deep rich stain sets off the grain in the body beautifully. The deep reds are balanced perfectly by the red mirror scratchplate. Top class effort."

And the winner is...

Trevor's TL-1

http://www.pitbullguitars.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/86p43-Ashs-Tele.jpg

"Simple elegant and a treasure indeed that will make for years of enjoyment."

"Simple, nicely finished with obvious love."

"Trevor's Tele is amazing. The colour is perfectly chosen, with a deep hue and sharp clean lines. The pearl scratchplate with the pearl binding, contrasting with the Chrome hardware, ties the whole look together. Very nice!"

"Lovely execution of the semi gloss look on the tele. Nice colour balance and outcome."

Congratulations Trevor!
