Geez thats a nice axe man, the overall finish is impeccable and that Azure...wow I'll definitely pencil that colour in for a build down the track, it just works so well with the black.
It looks like a real players guitar, I bet it sounds nice. Excellent job man the bars definitely sittin' up there on this one.

Well thanks guys. I really appreciate your comments.

This build was certainly a challenge. A lot of firsts for me. I am glad it's done.

I started thinking today, my wife bought this kit for me for my birthday last year and it's almost that time of year again. I checked my order summary and laughed out loud. The order for this guy was made on the 6th of June 2013. One year later, to the day, I post the final pics in GOTM. Weird.

Said it once, and I'll say it again: you have an incredible build here.

Looking forward to see what people challenge you with. :)

Up until now, I personally disliked boards with prominent inlays.
This jobbie has changed my tune . . . .

Awesome looking IB1 Pablo, its been worth the wait - 12 months to complete. Azure matches the fretboard inlay so well. Look forward to a sound demo once its all set in. Have you got a tremelo cover or are you cutting a new one ?
You have set the standard very high already. Not sure what I'm entering this month

pablopepper
12-06-2014, 02:31 AM
Once again, thanks for the comments fellas.

@Brendan, I made the truss cover from a piece of brushed aluminium engraving material.

@Wokka, 12 months from order. Due to backorder, some shipping difficulties and going overseas, I didn't end up starting until late September/early October. But still, long enough. I decided against a trem cover. I didn't like how the one that came with the kit fit, so I blacked out the bare wood and left it off. Not planning on putting one on. I kinda like being able to see the guts of it.

Hi all, this is my entry, TL-1A alder body, same model as Simons. Stain on the body/headstock is Feast Watson Cedar reduced in colour. Neck done in Feast Watson golden teak. Standard camphor veneer on headstock with an Andyport 4D logo.
I've gone for the chrome neck humbucker and surround, the grain is too nice to hide with a pickguard.
It plays and sounds pretty good for the little setup it's had.
I've never been much of a tele fan till I owned and played one !

I always wanted to be part of a secret society. And that it must be because I didn't even know it existed. Will there be sacrificial virgins? Because if so, I don't think there are any in Mackay.

Hi guys,

Here is my entry for GOTM July. It's an ESB-4 semi-hollow bass finished in a Colortone Vintage Amber and Red Mahogany burst, with Tru-oil and an Andyport vinyl headstock decal. The pickups and electronics are all stock. The only hardware addition is a hand-made truss-rod cover by yours truly. Head over to the audio demo:

http://www.pitbullguitars.com/community/?mingleforumaction=viewtopic&t=1331

to see how she sounds. I've never had a bass before, but I'm totally stoked with how she looks and sounds.

Anyway, here she is for your consideration.

cheers,
Gav.

I agree Wokks , Gav this one is truly beautiful and a very classic looking guitar. It sounds great and looks like it belongs on my wall . You must be over the moon with how she turned out. @Gav - thanks, I'm getting there - very, very slowly. One of these days!
@Wokka, @Andy - AFAIC it's still anyone's race. We've got Pablo & Wokka - two previous winners in the line-up (gulp) - and then there's Simon's sweet tele! All the builds this month are total class!

Guys, there's still a few hours to go! Get those entries in!

cheers,

And the Winner is...

Big thanks to our Esteemed Judging Panel, including special guest judge Bargeloobs (I only just picked this as a Spoonerism... yes, I'm a bit slow).

This month, as we only received 4 entries, we are just announcing the winner.

So, without further ado..

Congratulations Gavin Turner, your stunning ESB-4 was the judges clear favourite.

"Gavin, really nice job. You are really starting to get a handle on the sunburst."

"Sublime bass, loads of attention to detail and nicely done."

"Oh my! Just cut the nonsense, stop the press and put this on the frontpage! What a stunning example of what is possible. Welcome to the winners podium Gav! Nothing will beat this this month! Awesome colour choice and the gloss is just top-notch! Anyone who is a fan of bass guitars and the archtop would love this in their collection. Wow factor in spades and then some."

"What can you say about this bass, jaw droppingly beautiful. That burst...wow, the attention to detail on the finish WOW!!! I want it!"

Well done Gavin.

Great job Gav. tough choice this time round! I reckon if pablos had more of a classic look it would have been an even harder choice because quality of build wise I think there was nothing in it, both 10s. Same goes for the other entrants too!
