Hey all,
With all the new kits, I'm starting to re - look at the wiring diagrams. I'm hoping to save Ads some work by only giving him one copy of the diagram, with any updates that need to be made. Are there any diagrams that need some work? Feel free to post updates here and I'll monitor and use any to update the diagrams ASAP.

The only one that comes to mind is for the TL-1TB/TL-1TH kits. Currently the suggested schematic is the basic 2 Humbucker diagram (http://www.pitbullguitars.com/wp-content/uploads/pdf/PRS-1S.pdf), but these kits actually use a 3-way lever switch (like a TL-1) rather than a toggle switch, so need a separate diagram more like this (http://www.pitbullguitars.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/62vh2-Modded_TL-1TH_wiring.jpg).

Also, the connections to the volume pot on the 2 Humbucker diagram (http://www.pitbullguitars.com/wp-content/uploads/pdf/PRS-1S.pdf) may need to be redrawn slightly, as a few builders have been confused by the way the in/out wires overlap.

Thanks Scott - will fix those ones up!

Hey Brendan, the GR-1SF needs a diagram!
It has individual volume controls with master volume after, 3 way toggle switch and the other switch for the tone circuit

Hi Brendan,

Where can I find the wiring diagrams? [A: Under "Guides".]

I noticed that my ST-1L has two tone capacitors (vs. one in the "standard" Strat wiring); I'm curious to see the diagram for this.

I've had to rewire the tone controls "righty" in two other guitars to get the proper control range, so knowing how the wiring should look is a big help.

Cheers!

Paul - good pickup - noticed I'd left off a Cap to see if anyone was really looking at the diagrams ( :D ). Obviously my QA / QC needs some work. Quick fix - until I've got a new diagram up is to have the second cap pretty much the same as the first, but on the other (bottom) tone pot. That said, having just received my first Strat Kit (normally a bass maker) most of it is pre-wired.

Most standard 'ST' type layouts only use a single cap, like this (http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/wiring-diagrams/schematics.php?schematic=3s_1v_2t_5w), this (http://www.guitarelectronics.com/product/WDUSSS5L1201/Strat-Style-Guitar-Wiring-Diagram.html), and this (http://www.dimarzio.com/sites/default/files/diagrams/standardfs_5way.pdf). *You would really only need more than one if you wanted to have different cap values for specific pickups or combine caps to get a different value etc. * *

So, assuming your two caps are the same value, just save one as a spare. If you did want to use the second cap, then you would also need to disconnect/not use the wire linking the two tone pots (the orange wire on the PBG ST-1 diagram (http://www.pitbullguitars.com/wp-content/uploads/pdf/ST-1.pdf)), as that wire 'shares' the single cap.

Thanks guys.

Both caps are 0.047uF ("473"); I haven't traced the wiring to see exactly what's going on, but suspect it's independent tone controls on two pickups - but not the third.

It looks like I'll have to undo the "lefty flip" wiring (see photo), so I may as well rewire it with separate bridge and middle/neck tone controls and capacitor values e.g.:

Brendan,

Looking at the two pictures in my previous post, it would be really useful to have a wiring diagram that maps the "traditional" 5-way switch (four lugs each side) to the "3-1-3" PCB switch supplied in the kits.

Cheers!

Is this what you mean, although it has two commons (0's) on the import rather than one?

Paul,
Happy to look at it. That said, in general the diagrams are intended for the stock kit components and my aim is to only show those bits you need to do to keep it as simple as possible.

All,
I've volunteered to do the diagrams (and am happy to do them) - down side is that I don't have one of each kit at home to step through all the switches, etc to make sure the diagrams are using the right ones. Given that, I'm sure that some of the diagrams are not perfect, so happy to take advice and correct as I can. If you've got photos of the control panels / etc that have different bits than what I've diagrammed, please let me know so I can get them right!
