will have a brass engraved pickup plate and electronics plate with paisleys dripping off it and a sunburst orange oyster veneer..any tips on how to get a wicked orange would be greatly sucked into the grey matter and used accordingly!

Groovy!
May I dare suggest that you would be better off with a real Bigsby B50? You can get them from www.realparts.com.au for around the $150... Would look a lot more professional and will sit nicely with the custom engraved plates (not to mention stay in tune a whole lot better) :P

Oh, and with the Orange, what type of top coats are you going to use?
As you are most probably aware, I am working up a new range of finishes and stains.

Email me at dingobass@pitbullguitars.com if you want to discuss this more :)

Thanx Guys!
Its a manmade veneer, last piece of its kind too, the factory that made is is no more so very sad as its a nice piece..only a few guitars worth left,
Im going to 2Pac clearcoat this one, I need a very hard resin type finnish on this axe,
Thanx for the advice on the bigsby, Im only using this one as its there, If the new owner wants to upgrade to better hardware they can,Im giving this all away as a gift, they can put the extra hundreds in at their own discretion,If need be, Its going to Hong Kong, Postage will cost more than the guitar ...

It reminds me of a Michael Luenig drawing.. Mr Curly would love this Guitar!.

I am sure the young lady will be the envy of her peers when she casually takes this out of its case and plugs in :)

Strange & wonderful concept guitar with what promises to be a truly stunning finish.
I would have seriously considered customising the headstock shape as well if it was my bespoke guitar.
That young lady has the talent to do justice to this unique instrument IMO.

Definitely a 'left of centre' guitar. Ain't no one else going to rock up to a gig with one like that. How are you going to get the wiring between the cavities?

VanHaydn
02-05-2014, 11:12 AM
Thanx again gents!

im going to build a special drill bit that can reach from the back where the belt button will fit and drill a small hole right through the centre of the wood an link all the holes with a small hole...should be fun, should get most of it completed ready for an audio test before clearcoat
cheers

the drill bit works great a little small but at least only a small hole to plug on the entry side...

dingobass
02-05-2014, 10:20 PM
The usual way to approach this is to drill from the neck pocket... Then no need to hide the hole ;)

wokkaboy
02-05-2014, 11:49 PM
looks amazing Haydn, can't believe few days ago this was a body blank ! Is the body pine ?
What colour are you staining the sides ?
Yes as DB suggested I'd drill a long hole from the neck pocket to the rear cavities, only way I can see doing it and keeping the hole hidden

VanHaydn
03-05-2014, 02:18 AM
Thanx gents..

Yip went in from the neck...but cant make the other side so both sides it was..so here is the sunrise with Coral tint..
yes its pine guitar is very light as a result so should suit the young lady very well doing those long gigs she is planning !
1st coats down ..

Wow! That's incredible. The only thing I can think of that's comparable shape wise would be those oddball guitars Prince used to play.

wokkaboy
03-05-2014, 06:48 AM
good point Fretty but I think Princes horn spiral went the other way maybe.
Looks off the chain Haydn, 1st burst of the sides I've seen, think Ann will be blown away when its finished, and the way you are going that will be the weekend by the looks.
So an axe woah to go in about 6 days ?

Well you quickly made me feel like a sloth. Basically from tree to finished guitar in, what was that? a WEEK!? And a FINE looking guitar to boot. You should be well pleased with yourself.

stan
04-05-2014, 10:43 PM
You're right Johnny - he just takes a tree and cuts away all the pieces that don't look like a guitar, and there you go - simple process really (not...)

VanHaydn
05-05-2014, 03:22 AM
Thanx again gents!..here is the good news...took one day to design on cad...about well 7 hours anyway..then 2 hours cutting time in total with moving wood about and finding the operation system this one needed..that was spread over 3 days that I can be in the workshop, but the next one should there ever be one will only take from blank wood to complete guitar 7 hours at most that with some lunch thrown in ! so getting better at doing this, I can feel the improvements but the repeat actions from the last few..so something is sinking in,definatly waaay less work that a full floater Trem , but still had to turn the blank over to machine the back pockets, so need to make a jig now that i can use for mulitple designs ...im marking the wood with a cross reference point and a moark on th eopposite side to give me my zero and centre line...that needs to me a mechanical placement with pins in the wood..but thats still a pian in th ebut as you have to put the pins in..so looking at a clamping system to grab like im doing now but be able to flip the stock over and keep the reference point that will save 30 min or so setup time..thats the time it take to cut out 2 guitars with pockets
cheers
