Hi Team,

I am currently in the middle of my lefty LP kit.
I am going for a satin black finish on back, sides and neck /headstock.

I have a few questions:

Do you clearcoat satin black with a satin clear, or just use plenty of coats?

How do you get the tiny blemishes and dust particles off? With a gloss finish you can polish etc to obtain an immaculate finish - can't do this with satin, or it won't be satin...

Oh, and pics up soon ;)

Hey Stan,
well some interesting questions there.
firstly yes you would want to purchase a matt finish clear coat. And secondly when it comes to satin clear you kind of have to just get it right, as you say any dust particles must be taken of with a tack cloth after each coat. Tricky but affective when done right . Good luck with it and I cant wait to see the finished product.

Just had some issues being over eager between coats, looks like a strip and start again job- last coat caused the paint to craze... cool now I get to sand again...
