Tsukasas TLA-1

[Tsukasa]

I have started building my TLA-1 resembling 50's TC!
The 1st picture shows the shaped head.
The 2nd and 3rd picture shows replaced bridge and drilled body to put string
thorough it to the back side.
Now I am sanding, sanding and sanding...

well done Tsukasas, looking sweet already and love the string through. These ash bodies are very classy. What stain colour you got in mind ? What tools did you use to shape the headstock ?

Nice grain there, you get massive shine off the light-coloured wood in those wide banded sections, but it's the darker bands that seems to catch and play with the light best, changing from light to dark. :)

I apologize not for responding quickly.
I had used a copping saw and a woodworking file (please refer to the 1st photo).
During these two weeks, I tried filling the wood surface using some powder called "TONOKO" that is usually used for woodworking in Japan.
After applying the "TONOKO" and sanding it, I have painted my TLA-1 with clear lacquer.
The 2nd photo show my guitar just after painted. From now, I will repeat painting and sanding process for several times.
In my plan, my TLA-1 will be painted in "Butterscotch Blonde." However the natural colour also seems impressive... :)

Looking great Tsukasa! I'm very interested to see the results of your process. How sucessful was the Tonoko in filling the grain? It is looking very nice in the photo - has the grain popped from the Tonoko or the lacquer? I'm watching your build with keen interest :).

I have finished building, painting, soldering and tuning my TLA-1. Some parts are replaced to resemble 50's model. The sound is good. The rest problem is a height of 'nut' that seems too high to play.
BTW this kit has high quality to enjoy, thanks all!

Unfortunately I could not find out the way to upload the final image.
Has the I/F of this site changed?

Hi Tsukasa,

I would love to see a final photo of your guitar if you can manage it. I bet she looks sweet! Most kits need a new nut, or at the very least the filing down of the nut slots before they get close to really playable. I'm sure you are on top of it!

If you are having trouble adding photos to a 'Reply', then one cause might be that the photos are too large.
