Ok, well I'm sure Adam put a TL up on a Sunday sale knowing I wouldn't be able to resist buying a couple , and he was right. Something special for one of these girls , I have ordered at much expense some quilted maple veneers. I had to dam bulk buy so there's gonna be a few of my builds like this.
My plan is to have no control plate on the front and only the switch and knobs showing.Being as my Darth mor model sounds so sweet with a Tone rider rock song humbucker on the neck this one is getting the same and a Tone rider Clasic on the bridge. No scratch plate , I've paid that much for the veneer I don't want people looking at a scratch plate lol.
Any how here is where I'm up to. As you can see I have routed the controls slot right through and intend on putting a plate on the back for access. I have cut up the scratch plate and made a control panel out of it , recessed the front and glued it in ready to except the veneer straight over the top.
Neck is done and oiled with my new signature head shape on.

Exotic wood in the USA. Be prepaid to pay a few hundred bucks. shipping is a killer

Any spoilers on whether the switches and knobs will be woody looking too?

Great work so far man, what are you going to cover the back with once everything is in place?

I like your headstock too

Thanks ishasmario , I haven't decided on the hardware in that respect yet regarding knobs etc . The back will have black cover recessed in to keep it flush.

OK just ordered the new bridge / more blank bone nuts / humbucker surrounds / Grover tuners / Emerson custom USA pots , switch , and cap / Ferrels for through strings , Yup another Expensive Bridge. I have also ordered some pearl binding so more routing to do when everything arrives.

So what else is there apart from the body and neck ;-)
This is going to be a pretty hot axe when you're done Jarrod. Another $2000.00 machine, methinks!

Problem is lowry I cant part with them. Got an offer for my LP and I just cant do it. I bought these two TLA's with every intention of them going to the shop wall. Even the wife said I wont let them go lol......

Really interesting design with the reverse control plate/routing through. Dig it!

Can't wait to see what happens. I hope the veneers are well bookmatched. Did you check around for aussie suppliers mate? Shipping from USA must've cost you a bomb.

jarrod
05-04-2014, 08:08 PM
Oh I spent days checking Nick. No bookmatch required, it will be one piece

Without the control plate on the front, this baby is going to look a lot like a Cabronita. Love it.
Can't wait to see how she comes out!

Gav.

Ok back from work earlier than i thought so i made some progress. Got the maple veneer on and routed a radius on . Was gonna go with binding but i chipped the edge of the veneer so radius it is.
