Radical!
The headstock is really wild, I like it.

Q: is the body an artist's paint/palette box?
Q: how is it tuned?

Haydn - nice job - with Max - the headstock does look nice. Love how you've used bass style parts to get it all together.

Max - misread your question - you asking what are the strings tuned to?

cheers guys!

the box is from a milling tool for my mill/drill very nice dovetailed assembly,
and ive tried open G and now on open A really like open A its quite unusual, Im really surprised at how deep the sound is...I forgot to get a cap for the tone pot so it just works on the pickup switch now love the difference in drive ..the front pickup is really sweet and warm and Bukka has nice byte !
Actually Brendan they are all guitar parts, Took an old tremelo system and cut the devil out of it with and angle grinder front pickup from a wannabe tele and the bukka's from something in the distant past!
will make a short sound vid on the differences
cheers

Wow, you left the frets on while you did that! Did they come out of the process ok?

perfect ..thats a high speed tungsten carbide cutter, spinning 24 thousand rpm, stuff just moves out the way before it moves anything, the cutter is designed to cut plastics woods metals without coolant or lubrication, the flute has special spirals cut into the opposite side of the sharp edge that creates a vortex of air and as you can see it ejects the swarf and also cools at the same time, I used a up cutter but you get compression cutters and down cutters too, its just so sharp that no force it used to push anything its all just removed, when i cut metals/carbon fiber and it gets blunt it just snaps
cheers

wicked Haydn, love the CNC videos and this CBG is so cool, love the headstock shape and how you narrowed the neck for a 4 string. I started building cigar box guitars before I started building PBG kit guitars so it is a really good entry level for starting simple scratch builds. Look forward to the video/sound demo.
I've mucked around with open A and G tunings. Which gauge strings are you using, EADG or ADGB strings ?

Holy crap, I can't believe you cut down a full size neck! That is equal parts crazy and awesome. Great stuff Haydn.

thanx gents!

Ive tried both tunings with both sets of strings ...ive absolutly effall experience in cbg's this is my 1st and most definatly not my last love em...ive been playing for a few years but never slide or at level that you can oh that slide sound is cool! but love the fact there are a few years of learning left! from my very little experience i like the EADG strings sound has a bit more balls to it and the open G is easy to get a good sound right away compared to the A you need to know what you doing to get it to sing watching youtube vids like a porn junkie now to get some tips! need lessons on slide real fast hey

Haydn its all practice but open tune sliding isn't that hard. Might be easier for you to practice on an open tuned 6 string. Think I prefer the heavier EADG strings too on a CBG, they give a bit more grunt. Good start though to watch some youtube vids for advice and tips.

thanx
yea ive got 2 dedicated 6 string slide guitars with different tuning still learning them too teehee, will be putting the e set back on tonight as the neck has a trus rod so can handle any open tuning
need a cap for the tone knob to complete the build!
