Been waiting to get some time off work (boss is a real slave driver) to get going with this one. This guitar has one major difference from most of the other PBG guitars, i wont get pinged for no truss rod cover and second I cannot place my logo on the headstock. Why? I can almost hear you ask! Because it doesnt have a headstock!
This iis the SH-1.

Decided to rout an edge around the body to put on some pearloid binding.

Gav - looking good! You must love routing and doing binding! No lost fingers tonight?

No lost fingers....but not convinced i did the right thing by staining the grain black.....
Thinking I should take it back to the raw wood and rethink?

crikey Gav's been a busy boy levelling frets and posting updates. The black stain looks a bit uneven Gav, pity, its a nice effect. You might want to sand it back and try something different, what yellow stain is that ? would look good with that on its own maybe ?

It is saffron...gave it another coat today and it does look a bit better. May reassemble the guitar and see what it looks like. Otherwise its out with the sandpaper again!!

This is growing on me, so much so that I have decided to treat it to some upgraded pickups! But for now it has to settle for the first of the Top Coats!

Lookin' good. There is something deliciously ironic about a futuristic shape with a "roadworn" wood look. I'm really liking this.

Time to put the bridge on this guitar.
This bridge is a little different from many of the bridges we usuallly work with so I thought I would document this part of the process to help others.

The first thing to do is to separate the base of the bridge from the saddle and then to use the four silver screws to attach the base to the basswood body. Always predrill a hole to act as a guide for the screw. Use a drill bit that is 2/3 of the diameter of the screw being used.

Next, attach the saddles back onto the bass of the bridge. Do not stress if the saddles break free from the bridge. They are easily returned by loosening a screw that is forcing them to remain bonded.

Never liked "headless" guitars, but Gav, you may have just turned me to the dark side....... Love the distressed look.

Looking great Gav! Do you have a shot from the top with the bridge installed?

cheers,

Sure do Gav!

This shot shows the bridge in place. The saddles are held in place by an allen screw that sits on the side of the bridge. Intonating this is going to be very interesting!!

The neck is a bolt on, but despite pre drilling the screw holes the neck wood split! So this is going to end up being glued as well.
Oh, and before anyone asks, the bridge needs to be grounded, so make sure that step is not omitted simply because you are dealing with a different looking bridge.

I assumed, incorrectly, that "Overload of Music" was a well known brand, like Floyd Rose or Grover. Apparently not.

I've done a bit of Googling and the only thing that comes up is other people asking that same question. Where do they come from? Who makes them?

I think it's just a case of "Engrish", or "Lost in Translation".

Like the Warning label on a sharp knife that says "Keep out of Children".

Anyhoo, I like the name and I think we should fully embrace it.

So, from today on, anyone who posts more than 2000 comments will be labelled on the forum as an "Overlord of Music". Something to aspire to.

Oh, sorry Gav, because you're a Moderator, you will always display as "Moderator".

Pickups installed. Thinking I like the idea of pickup surrounds around the single coils.

Hey Wokka. When you get there you'll have to start talking with a deep Darth Vader type voice. "Music, I am your Overlord (rasp, rasp)".
