OK Guy's thought I would share what I have done up to now and up date it as I go.
first of all the filler primer.
Then the mid night Black water based colour.
painted pearl white around the body.
Airbrushed some Ace playing cards in for it's theme name of Ace's High.
finished with a silver Hot Rod sparkle in the clearcoat.
and three coats of 2PK clear.
meanwhile the neck is getting Natural Wudtoned.
pots and switch have been changed out to Fender.
Pickups will be changed out to Fender Texas specials.
and a new pearl white scratch plate has just arrived.
I see that looking at other peoples awsome builds my paint work may not be to everyone's liking but hey I love it :D

Amazing work Jarrod! Totally awesome - I love it!
The airbrush work is very cool and the sparkle tint in the clear really finished it off nicely.
Would love to see it with the new scratchplate.

Cheers,
Gav.

Jarrod, that looks magnificent. I can just imagine it being played in a smokey gambling bar with everyone wearing a dark suit and Stetson. Only problem I see with it is that there are only four aces. The guy I play poker with usually has more than that ;-)
It looks great man.

How can that not be to anyone's liking. It's fantastic.

That's some great airbrush work. I'd love to try my hand at airbrushing one day. More so for simple burst finishes, I don't think I could ever do anything like your aces though.

Top stuff.

Wow That's made me feel very good about it Lawry cause that believe it or not was exactly what I had in mind for the look. Thanks for seeing my vision too.

Thanks people! I really thought people on here would steer away from painted guitars.

Thanks Adam, the TLA-1 I have just ordered from you last night is for my 76 year old father inlaw. 76 and still playing gigs with his wife on the key's. So I thought building him a guitar would be a nice gift. The PRS is for me. Dam I'm getting addicted already, next one's for the dog lol....

Nah, we love them all! In many of the threads here you will find great craftsmanship, ingenuity, and artistic talent, (all except mine in fact haha!) and no matter what the materials used, the guitars are all applauded, admired and coveted with equal gusto!! Your build rocks dude, and I can't wait to see your next!

cheers,
Gav.

I keep coming back to check out your photo Jarrod. Fantastic, really fantastic. The perloid pickguard is the icing on the cake. Your build will be a serious contender for guitar of the month.

cheers,
Gav.

I really appreciate that Gav. Well I missed Decembers so maybe I'll put in for January's.
The neck is all bolted on now but I will leave it a couple of day's before the strings go on and then ofcause the rest of the set up. I cant wait to play it, my first build and first Tele to add to the collection. After years of gigging in my younger years I've just pulled the guitars out again about a year ago and or man how I had missed them.

I reckon you have really aced it!

What an astoundingly cool guitar 8-)
Your workmanship & artistry are a true inspiration.
Now I am determined to break out my airbrush . . . soon.

BTW: is The "Aces High" theme from the old pinball machine? (I had to ask)

jarrod
02-12-2013, 12:06 PM
Actually Max I got the name from an old war movie I was watching the other day . The theme of the guitar and the name were a total coincidence that just worked lol... Thanks for kind words too.

Hi Jarrod, fantastic looking axe you must be proud. The neck should free up after a few hours of playing I'd say

jarrod
07-12-2013, 03:10 AM

Outstanding. Really cool looking axe there Jarrod. I love the headstock logo you've come up with, though I will admit the first thing that popped into my head when I saw J.M.C. was Jupiter Mining Corporation. Any dwarfers out there?
