Wow, looking good! That walnut stain has really popped the grain. It's a beautiful caramel shade too. I bet you are pleased with it. Will be great to see it with the hardware on. These IB-5 kits really are spectacular! Keep us posted with future progress! I need more exclamation marks!!!

cheers,
Gavin.

Hi Brett and welcome to the PBG Family.

Wow, that looks nice. Having built an IB-5 myself I can tell you that they sound just as good as they look, and they do look awesome.

cheers.

holy cow Brett that IB-5 looks amazing, you got a ripper grain especially the lower piece of the body the grain is incredible. The walnut stain really suit the grain and its almost popping out of my 2D screen ! What was the clear you used ? Tru Oil ?
I'm getting very afraid to enter an axe for GOTM November !

I used cabots walnut stain and I sprayed the clear ,Cabot's CFP. 1st coat i applied decent coat to fill the grain ,i let it dry for roughly a week and sanded it back then sprayed a couple of really thinned out coats.

thanks Brett, you have done a fantastic job, I've built an IB-5 and was amazed at the results these ash bodies give. Your finishing technique has worked a treat, can't wait to see this bass buttoned up !

hey guys

i played my bass today!!!it sounds amazing. really happy with the progress so far. few minor little things to fix but its playable atm.

i have come into a few lil hick ups. the back cavity plate isnt big enough for the cavity. i ordered a set of EMG-X pickups but recieved one emg-x and one normal still went with it anyway sounds great.the guitar jack that came with the kit was crackly as one of the tabs was half broken. the guitar knobs that come with the kit dont fit the Emg pots(smooth shaft).

Nice job . I have just started an IB-5 great kit.
The control cover plate doesn't fit on mine either.
But still a great kit

Did the EMG pickups fit the cavities without any routing? I'm about to do a IB-5 myself, and want to upgrade pups, just don't know what will fit yet.

thanks

Wow. The stain and grain are gorgeous. The issues you're having are not insurmountable so it's going to be a beast very soon. Great job, man!
