Is it finished yet? :)

I'd guess that if DB still has it to take photos of, Adam hasn't nabbed it yet, which to me would say that it's not done yet....
Looking sweet DB - what colour bling are you looking at?

Yeah, i just wanted to know if I had to travel all the way to DB's to see it or if I could stop off half way!

looks great DB, how thick will the celery top be ?
so you glue the top on and route pockets down to depth ?

I think its safe from the tele napper until its wired and strung up, then it must be guarded 24/7 !

Maybe Adam doesn't like his greens, so he'll be turned off by the celery.

So Adam is a big Ukulele fan, I take it.

Hey Db loving the two colours looks nice weight too . never used the Tassie wood what's it like tone wise. Did you finish it yet can't wait to see . I sent you and Adam some info about a pickup
Maker in US did you get info and find it useful .Hes an excellent pickup builder , I've had Strat complete or as they say fully loaded pick guards. He is very well known for his John Mayer tone. Bass pickups and some great pickups with wooden tops .i had his precision bass pickups too fantastic and all at a great price I think he'd be a great addition to the pickups on the site . The big plus is he's a great guy.If you didn't get he info please let me know ill resend . The other thing he's great at is name a guitarist, bass player send him link or sound sample hell make em. For a complete strat pick guard it cost me about 125.00 inc shipping .He made my Pino Palladino pickups sound fantastic.Well best wishes to you all not been on in a while , spending time playing not building
Best Wishes
Kimball

Some more progress shots.
Turning two chunks of tree into a laminated neck and fingerboards.... (Canadian Rock Maple)

First chunk gets split into three, dressed on the planer jointer and slapped together with some Titebond.

The second chunk gets split in half length ways then both halves are sliced again.

Next a couple of passes through the drum sander and lo, we have enough finger boards for the next half dozen Guitars and Basses. 8-)

Extra bits added to form the headstock...
When the glue has cured it will get the drum sander treatment then profile cut out on the bandsaw... Fun! :)

Next time you start a neck from scratch let me know please DB, I'd like to see the steps in person !

dingobass
17-08-2013, 07:25 AM
Sure can Woks, I have seen necks made up of eight different types of timber laminated... A tad over the top but visually very impressive..

I have plans on the go for a neck through Jag six style, when I get to it I will let you know.
Entry fee to the Man Cave is a six pack of Coopers Pale :)

Looking sweet DB, make sure the tele napper keeps his hands off this !! The binding looks great with the colours.
If the pizza oven was portable I'd be more than happy to bring it around but it fits in the too hard basket I'm afraid
