which Bigsby do you have??? you might have to alter the shape to accept it, if you have a B5 you can get a Vibramate V5 to accept it

Either way it will be AWESOME!!!

11-07-2013, 09:48 AM
got b5,, going to plug holes with dowel cut from offcuts ,, and will have less cut from arse tho ,, will have flame cut but higher and less from where bigsby will go !!! doing it this way will ensure that holes will be filled with same wood and when painted in a car paint it will not be able to be seen !!! got it all covered !!! PS : you must sit on this forum just waiting to reply to people LOL

Yeah getting older & denser does suck . . .
How does the piezo system tie in with magnetic pickups?
Am I asking a silly question? :?

15-07-2013, 06:24 AM
well the tuneamatic bridge has the piezo crystals (( http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/370802376247?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 )) ,, and you get the pre amp wiring harness for it (( http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/370828934507?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 )) .. makes life a lot easier ,, only differents is the i will have push pull pots in the wiring harness for spliting ,,, the piezo turns on and of via the push pull tone pot and has its own volume !!! ,,

Are you going for a stereo jack or two separate jacks? Ideally you want to send the magnetics to your amp and the piezo to a DI or an acoustic amp.

18-07-2013, 07:05 AM
im not sure yet i will see what the pre amp wiring has on it ,,, KIT arrived today very happy with ,, neck a little loss in joint tho, wish they were a little better fitting make setting neck a lot easier ,, will post pic later !!!! ,, have to start marking out the cut outs !!! and shaping head stock !!!!

marked out both cut outs ,, drilled out most of the wood ,, then use dremel tool to carve out the wood ,, then with my trusty files and 60 grit norton sandpaper spent 2 hours getting one side perfect ,, will do the other side tomorrow and will be doweling the holes from the stop tail for the bigsby to mount , will post pic when down ,, not to all the curves are all taken from the pickgaurd !!! THATS what i use for the template

I'm inspired to start thinking of possible body shape mods of my own :).

This guitar is showing a distinct character already - it should be really cool when all the fruit goes on.
Nice work.

22-07-2013, 08:24 PM
it will be a lot fruitier then the original ,, plus the flame cuts will be higher due to the bigsby

24-07-2013, 03:47 AM
HIP HIP HORAY ,, the piezo bridge and the pre amp arrived today ,, come with stereo jack on , very happy all fits well .

MB, ya should have tried the Fishman Powerbridge!!! They work really well, and you can use a Fishman Aura Spectrum DI to get so many awesome tones from it!!!

24-07-2013, 04:06 AM
if i was going to spend big i would i gone graph tech, ghost with there system ,, but wanted the sound without the big $ ,, never tried the fish man , reviews read well on them tho,

24-07-2013, 04:07 AM
plus i will be adding split coil hums to the wiring on push pulls ,, wilkisons

keloooe
24-07-2013, 05:06 AM
Yeah, Fishman's TOM is actually the same model Slash uses to get his tones!

24-07-2013, 11:45 PM
bigsby come ,, not very happy with will be sending back as it has very deep scratches on and getting another , but it still allows me to get out line done of flame cut ,, so heres a pic of a mock outline of cut and bigsby placement ,, might change flames yet not quiet sure , few more curves are needed !!

25-07-2013, 06:50 AM
received email this arvo ,, new bigsby being sent . started on cuting flames will post pic later when done ,, they tend to take a bit of time and a lot of filling to get them spot on .

25-07-2013, 06:56 AM
Muffman, you mean you are cutting the flame shapes through the whole width of the body ?
that should look sick !

good luck with that

25-07-2013, 10:56 AM
YES : just like the original one i made , they take a while to file tho , slow process to get them square , smooth and perfect !!!

keloooe
25-07-2013, 10:16 PM
Awesome design Muff!

26-07-2013, 06:31 AM
thanks mate ,, got half done ,, like i said slow process

DanMade
26-07-2013, 07:21 AM
That's looking bad ass man.

Must be a pain filing those internals. What do you use to cut them.

26-07-2013, 08:07 AM
i drill lots of hole on the out line leaving about 3-5mm ,, and then use a renovator tool with small thin blade cut out the excess , then carve with dremel tool taking of that 2-3mm, and then file of till just right and finish with 60 grit paper , then last a finish sand with 180 then 360 grit so they end up smooth and clean ,, and yes it a pain to do LOL ,, im lucky to have a very large file selection from large to small and all different shapes , plus lots of dremel attachments,, the right tools make life very easy

DanMade
26-07-2013, 08:14 AM
Sounds like fun mate. It's times like that I wish I had a bandsaw.

26-07-2013, 09:46 AM
yes have mini bandsaw good but some times i find backing it out from where it cant turn can be a pain and on really curved cuts ,, that why i op to do this way ,, jig saw can be affective also , but drilling the holes in it can help it turning direction of blade ,, like playing dot to dot LOL

keloooe
26-07-2013, 10:15 AM
Yeah, when i was cutting the headstock on my LP with the scroll saw it was hard to back out, you need to back off the speed while holding the piece down as tight as possible... It's damn hard...

28-07-2013, 05:29 AM
got the filling done ,, done a 60grit sand around ,, just needs final sanding with 240 then 360 grit but happy so far

28-07-2013, 05:34 AM
will be rounding of the edges to give a softer , smoother and flowing finish to them , to tie in with rest of the body

axeman
28-08-2013, 05:22 AM
yes i will be finishing this when i get time ,, put on the back burner for now ,, and yes it is me !!!
