Paint Job Ideas!

I'm getting myself an EX-1 kit some time soon, maybe this week.
Depends on which project I want to go with, this or building a 2x12 cabinet.

I duno how I should paint it, I haven't seen much of it, so why not eh?

Think I'll make it like a venom green with some black

Maybe some kind of running paint with the black, or maybe a black/green burst?

Open for ideas! Going to have a black bridge with Dimazrzio Liquifire/Crunch lab with a killswitch

Never mind guys! After looking around I've decided I'm going to paint the whole thing metallic black like this:

And use some glow-in-the-dark green paint to be a splatter over the top, running down the body like this:

Did some searching around and I couldn't find either of those, do you have examples?
Either way I'll print out that image and take it into Masters this weekend and see what they have

Names may have changed over the years, but they would be a custom mix anyway so you can make it specific.

But I would like to go for a space-y kind of metallic black, what I said about beating Xeno heads may not have been a joke ;D

I wouldn't bother with Masters.... basically Ikea for blokes.
You would be better off going to a specialist paint store, at least they will know what they are talking about!

Went there to look at their spraying gear and everything they have is plastic, I know it may be high grade but it doesn't seem quite right. There were also some with compressors attached, rather different.
Anyway, asked them about the paint and they were nearly no help at all, just said to go to an automotive paint store.
Also mentioned that if I say that it's for a guitar they'll amp the price up more.

i know im digging this topic up out of the grave , but that tank wouldve been a semi complicated process , and is made up in layers , primer > coloured base coat > then id say red auto flakes with the flames done in silver flakes > and a black candy with ghost red peal colour top coat then clear .

Bunnings or Ebay are good for equipment , and maybe general tool store like Gasweld etc. youll get charged way to much at a specialist auto paint store for equipment ( they sell stuff for people that spray cars for a living , not the DIYer )( tho it its better to ask the specialist about the actual paint /technique )

I myself use a $90 compressor , and $35 automotive touch up gun ( the touch up gun i think is the best , still decent quality and all metal , and the container is the right size to get a good coat of paint on a guitar ), and a simple $8 inline water trap for justin case
( ive painted a guitar using auto spray packs as well , and the cost for the basic spray equipment isnt to much more in the end )

the special effects paints you can virtually make most of them yourself at home with the various candy concentrate , pearl powders , flakes and paint pigments available on ebay ( a lot of the awesome paint jobs on cars are done by having a coloured base coat and coloured semi to fully transparent top coat ) , as well as using the normal auto paint ( metallic paints are something you cant make at home for example unless you do it the OLD school way )

When it comes to buying equipment you kinda get what you pay for......its like buying a guitar for $2000 versus a guitar for $200.

cheap doesnt always mean rubbish though , ive run a LOT of paint through my equipment with out a problem at all .

A lot of the time now days the price on things is a selling point , and not based on the fact that its a superior item ( its more expensive it must be better , right ? ) , the world of guitars is no different , the 2 biggest brands ( i wont name them ) often use price is prestige as a selling point
