The binding is a super secret DB special.... aww OK, I will tell you...

Red, white, blue pearloid and red perloid.
One and a half hours of routing, Five hours of gluing and swearing and two hours of scraping, sanding and polishing...

Red, white, green - isn't that the mexican flag - are we looking at a mariachi ricki? :D Just kidding - that is an amazing amount of work to go into a guitar!

The body is actually Azure Lagoon.... for some reason it looks green in these pics...go figure...

I don't like my chances of keeping this one Gav....

Forgot to mention the three hours spent cutting and shaping the white perloid scratch plate and pup surrounds... the most time I am ever likely to spend on a scratch plate....

Mate, you shoulda told me, we could have put the body on my binding router jig, i reckon you could have traveled here done the binding and even had time to spare for a coffee before travelling home and it would still have taken less time than the hour and a half!

dingobass
12-06-2013, 10:56 AM
I really must invest in one of those binding jigs...
Mate, it takes an hour to travel from the deep south to the far north, not to mention the passport checks :)

Are you bringing those Celery Pine bodies up this weekend to play with the Bandsaw?

dingobass

Not sure at this moment in time... got a Pit Bull staffie on Saturday and Miss Fiona is working on Sunday... will let you know how things are shaping up later this week.

Can't believe it was a return. Maybe a worthy sacrifice to the Pitbull Gods to keep the baritele?

adam

That's right, this was returned. I can't remember why now. I recall the corners of the scratch plates were chipped a little. DB, was there an issue with the neck?

Just a minor cosmetic issue really.
The scratch plate was slightly chipped and the neck has a tiny bit of damage that will disappear with a light touch up with sandpaper.

Looks amazing. With that binding, did you glue each layer individually, letting it dry each time? How'd you achieve that? Where do you source your binding?

dingobass
13-06-2013, 01:07 PM
Hey Walrus.
Each layer is applied individually, I use medium Stewmac superglue and hold the binding in place with binding tape- also from Stewmac.
The binding was sourced on ebay.
There was also quite a lot of swearing involved.....

Thats beautiful DB. I already had mine on the "might redo the Ricky" list. Having seen how Winki is coming along with the wudtone I think it's another visit to the DB trough. It will have to be after the Tele and the IB5 though. I think I have a problem..........
