Amid all the other new ideas (Community Kit, Baritone(s) etc.) I was wondering if anyone has already suggested a Rick 4000 Bass?

I would be very keen to build one of these.

After I finish this ST...and the SG on order, plus the ST-L that's coming....then there's the LP custom, oh and the 2 Baritones. Damn it I think I may have a real problem?

Ray, a definite case of extreme GAS mate! Currently no known cure....

I'll need a hint on GAS, lost me there I'm afraid?

GAS= Guitar Acquisition Syndrome.

HA!!!

Yeah I've got that...had it for years, but it's getting worse courtesy of PB Guitars!

My 20-year old Daughter has suggested an intervention, once I build her a Black Beauty.

I've been thinking of the 4000 series - into the more unusual looks. I'd be open for one of these at some stage (no point in having 1/2 a dozen undone kits sitting in my tin shed outside cooking during summer).

Issue like Ray - current list - with Baritone (if it happens), still got Hoffner, IB-5, Jazz Bass, YB-4 and seriously thinking of a black RC-1. Add a Ric bass and that's 6...

Mind you, I'm due to visit my brother in Canberra who's into furniture making and has kitted himself out with some neat gear, can buy a plan online, so may scratchbuild one of these some time in the distant future... maybe... (that is if there's not a kit around).

+1 to Rays suggestion.

In the middle of watching the classic albums DVD for Rush 2112/Moving Pictures right at the moment, and Geddy Lee's Rickenbacker is such a beautiful looking and sounding Bass, I'd love something like that (and now everyone says Rush? Geddy Lee? Who's that...or maybe not...hope there's some Rush fans out there). :)

[...] a Rick 4000 Bass? [...]

Perhaps we should aim for something a little more delicate and subtle (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2QMbyPtf_ys).

No probelm with Rush - Caress of Steel was a major music moment for me.

Brendan, what are your guitars doing in the shed? Doesn't your significant other allow them inside the house on hot days?

Oh God. That's the prettiest ugly bass I have ever seen.

Guitars stay in the house - just if I stacked up the unbuilt kits - we aint got no where else for them to go. My man cave is also more of a man alcove than a cave due to kids toys and coffee roasting kit in the shed.

A stack of un-built kits 'eh - I think I may have just had a peek into my future.

Just to really get up every ones nose, after I finish the Jag Baritone and the Jag VI I am building a Riccy 4001.
And just in case anyone has any ideas of trying to steal this one, we have two dogs and a psychotic workshop guard cat :)

yes DB I saw the cat yesterday and the cable lock for the Riccy 4001, you should be able to keep that in your collection !

A "Ricky 400x" Kit??? ... oh yessss! make that a +2 for that idea! (count me in!)

The punchiest sounding basses in the history of Rock 'n' Roll ... and certainly one of the coolest looking!

Although usually a 6-stringer myself, I occasionally have the opportunity to play bass (as stand in) with a mates band and would be playing a R'backer now if they were in my price-range which of course they're not (champagne taste on a bore-water budget!)

If Bass greats of the likes of Chris Squire (Yes), Joey DeMaio (Manowar), Geddy Lee (Rush) and Geezer Butler (Black Sabbath) to name but a mere few, chose to use the immortal Rickenbacker as their primary bass, then absolutely useless pretenders like myself can do very little wrong by following their lead (or bass as the case might be! :-) )

Put a Rickenbacker 400x kit in your product line-up and I can tell you that you'll have at least one sold right here!

That's +1 from me on the Ricky 400x kit as well. This would be awesome, and I would grab one in a heartbeat.

Cheers,
Gavin.

Dish the dirt men, are we getting closer on this one?

Ah, DB and I were extolling the many merits of the Rickenbacker line yesterday.... I only wish I had the influence on the range of kits!

I see. Although right now I probably have more than enough to go on with.
