Hi all,

I know this is a subject often covered on these boards, but I think I am going to need some help with this one.

I took delivery of the PBG2 (birthday pressie from my folks!) and did a quick inspection of the timber and parts ready for pre-fit. As you will see there are a few filler spots and big glue marks.

Being that this is a mahogany body, what would the sanding routine be to get rid of these marks?

Your thoughts, folks...

Hey Bassguy,

Good news is, I have dealt with worse! :)

Start with 180 grit and work your way up to 240.
You will find that these glue spots will disappear with a good sanding.

Enjoy the sanding Mate!

I thought as much.... ;)

I will get cracking in the morning and see what the grain reveals...

Thank goodness for DB! I haven't experienced glue on Mahogany but wondered if the mahogany would not need the wire brush that basswood needs. I suspected it wouldn't but suspecting that is not enough to pronounce it so!!

Have to love working with mahogany, it is such an easy wood to shape, and by DB's confirming comments, much easier to get rid of glue than Basswood!

Quick pre-fit test and check of headstock shape. Following the Rickenbacker ethos of trying to match headstock with body shape.
