I've set this up so we can all give Milly a hand putting together her ES-1G. It's for a school project I believe and the deadline is fast approaching. So... I'll see if I can get Milly here to let us know where she's up to and where she's stuck.

I'm sure we'll all be happy to help in any way we can... if we can.

It would probably also be useful to know exactly what her goal is, to ensure that any help steers her towards that goal rather than unintentionaly heading in the wrong direction.

Hi there guys,

I have successfully wired up my guitar and it is looking great :)

I am now up to attaching the neck and have found a slight problem. In the video I watched, it said that the length from the nut at the top of the neck to the middle of the twelfth fret must be the same length as the twelfth fret to the saddle on the body of the guitar. I have found that the nut to the twelfth fret is 308mm, and the twelfth fret to the saddle is about 320mm. Is this going to be a problem? The video didn't specify what to do if they aren't the same.

Thanks guys,

Milly.

How are you getting the 308mm measurement? Can you double check that you are measuring from the fretboard side of the nut to the middle of the 'crown' of the wire of the 12th fret, like this:

Hi Milly,

Sounds like you're either measuring from the wrong spot, or the neck isn't seated in the right position. I recall that my measurements on the LP-1 were both 315mm and you've got 308 and 320.

Is the neck all the way in and resting up against the neck pickup? If so, are you sure you're measuring from the 12th metal fret and not between the 11th and 12th frets?

There's a good tutorial on neck alignment which I'll dig out for you.
