Make Your Own Electric Guitar by Melvyn Hiscock:

While it is a book based around building your own guitar from scratch, it is also an excellent resource for Pitbull guitar kit builders. While you could start reading after the body and neck are shaped, I'd recommend you read the whole lot. It will give you a real appreciation of why, what and where for the whole guitar.

Foreword in Edition 2 is by one Brian Harold May, who comes across as someone who knows a one or two things about building a guitar. :D
