I have had pretty good luck with the Korean Hipshot Ultralite bass tuners. These Wilkinson's look really similar and are also made in Korea. Has anyone had experience with them? Curious if they are as light as the Hipshots?

They certainly aren't the same unit. The Wilkinsons are 17:1, the Hipshot Ultra-lites are 20:1. 17:1 is a bit low for a bass tuner to my mind. The Wilkinsons have solid brass gears, so aren't likely to be as light as the Hipshots.

The Wilkinson is sized for a 14mm hole only, the Hipshots come in 14mm and 16mm hole-size versions

I hadn't noticed the difference in ratio or that the gears are brass. . The Korean Hipshots are only around $20 more, with a better ratio, lighter and no need for re-drilling. Better all around it looks like. Thanks, Simon!

To put in the FWIW category, most sites seem to list these as having a 20:1 ratio. I have also seen the 17:1 ratio. Not sure how to account for it, other than someone may have it wrong.
