Just built my first kit. Upgraded to some nicer electronics and pick ups. Brass Fender bridge pieces on nickel plate. Self mixed green stain, Tru oil finish on body and coloured nitro on headstock. Neck sanded fine and oil lightly with no nitro for relived worn feel. Plays like my 75 Tele and sounds bright and full.

Looks fantastic! What electronics did you decide on?

Used classic Tele Tonerider pick-ups and change out the pots with some Realparts quality 250 pots.
pitbull Ash body is heavier than I expected. I was tempted to route out some more just to l9ghten it but it sounds so good I’m tentative to hollow her out.

Tele looks nice Chris. I like the earthy look of it.

Yeah, my TLA-1 (in my avatar, also ash) was heavier than I liked, so I did comfort and forearm contours as well as a "swimming pool route under the pickguard. It started out at 2.8kg and I got it down to 2.4kg. I know it's only 400g, but it makes a difference IMO.

The whole thing finished up at 3.8kg, which is fairly reasonable across tele's in general. (3.7kg is the average weight of all my strats, teles, LPs)
