Needed a small reverb pedal so why not build it on a rainy day. Pretty simple circuit. It's designed for a 1590g enclosure but I'm going to use a slightly bigger enclosure to give myself some extra space.

First up. Component testing time!.......right after I do a couple of jobs the wife gave me. But then it's manly pedal building time!https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200620/40878d9fd18e9c1caa6054882d9eb3d9.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200620/94e0d8070bf9f184a2376dce4e0d5bd7.jpg

You are much more organised than I am. I just grab components one at a time from my stash as needed. I usually check resistors with the multimeter since it's faster than trusting myself to read the resistor bands correctly.

When I used to set out components first, I found that a small piece of styrofoam would hold them all in place.

Yeah I picked up that little magnetic whiteboard somewhere. May have been Jaycar. I need it as sometimes I have to go tend to family/work and there's another week gone, if I don't do this I forget where I am. Getting older...lol

Cool! Sounds like a fun pedal. Look forward to seeing how it goes.

Will be interested in hearing what this one sounds like after it's built and working.

Oh and you'll love this Juggers....there are 6 x 10k resistors.

LOL. 10K is the only value I needed to order by the 100.

I was chuckling to myself last night as I was putting together parts for the next pedal builds and finding I needed handfulls of 10k

I have heard whispers that the Pedal Designers Guild is receiving generous kickbacks from the 10K Resistor Company.

Except for Dave Barber. I think he is in league with the Purveyors of Uncommon Component Values.

Finally got the time to solder my resistors in place. It's 5am and the kids aren't up yet. Lol.

I do not usually worry about putting them in uniformly (unless I'm building for someone else) because I'm pretty much colour blind. I just use my multimeter instead anyway.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200625/4f963dfbcac4526aae4e1d085e5d6037.jpg

Some work in that Andy! Nice and neat job. Do you buy the board in a kit or start from scratch?

Looking very tidy mate. I might have to start your trick of getting up early before the kids. My work usually starts later at night haha

The pedal Andy is building is a PCB from Madbean Pedals (https://www.madbeanpedals.com/projects/index.html). You buy the circuit board and then have to source all the other parts separately. Tayda is good for this.

You can make your own circuit boards, and Madbean have layouts for that, but it requires a bit more equipment and a lot more time.

I do most of my pedals on stripboard, which is a different approach again.

I remember those days; it was the worst. Miraculously our daughter started sleeping in pretty much the first day of the lockdown, and suddenly my sanity returned

Mid-summer here in the UK, so I tend to wake at 5am these days when the sun shines through the window and can't get back to sleep. I used to get up for work at 5.30am when I was commuting, so it's not too different.

That 5:30am itch has been scratched again! Capacitors, voltage reg and tranny are all in.

C6 was supposed to be 39n but I only had a 33n so I went with that.

One of the biggest challenges with this one is fitting it in an enclosure properly as the beltron brick is so big! I could have used smaller electrolytics but I didn't have that range.

I've included a side photo. I've got a few different enclosures so if this one doesn't work then I'll get a taller one.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200626/eab9dbbe5158a2de8d5c69d432fd9924.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200626/4c602e51752a07785fd4d9e2a30984af.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200626/9c33223385e172b709619345ee694f63.jpg

Very impressive Andy..👍 Looks like the board has which capacitor/resistor goes where. It’s a wonder Jaycar don’t have something like this..

Very nice Mr Early Bird. Is that diode oriented correctly?

Sick! Those little headphone amps are so handy for pedal testing, ey? Well done mate. Can't wait to see it all cased up

I never even thought to go buy a headphone amp but that's a neat idea.

Good work on the pedal too!

Good work on the pedal too!Easy to build one. I built a little lm386 headphone amp from an altronics kit. It's got an aux in and mixer too

I test pedals on my thr though.

Hey Rod,

Jaycar do some guitar effects as a learning tool in the Short Circuit series however he PCB's are giant and it takes 12v to run the thing. Still fun to build and muck around with though.

It's the 5:30am crew again.

Welcome to the world my ugly electrical spider. I shall name you reverbatron.

Reverbatron is a cool name for a reverb pedal, it has a kind-of sci-fi sound to it.

I need to get some parts together to build a rackmount tube-driven spring reverb unit for my studio, it'll be based on a 60's (I think) Fender spring-reverb unit that Uncle Doug from youtube built, remember that one?

I'm very glad to see that the spirit of diy pedal-building is alive and well in the Pitbull Guitars online forum.

Aaand reverbatron was tested out on the 5e3 tonight. Love it. Great pedal.

Thanks juggers. I'll have to look up that uncle Doug episode as I missed it. I've got not one but two spring reverb units to play with https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200628/f2105c2c27a117b3462da3c94176a172.jpg

Looks great! I do love a polished metal enclosure.

I have a spring reverb unit as well on the Kustom amp chassis. But I can't see any identifying marks on it yet, which means I don't know what circuit I need to drive it. Perhaps I should trace the Kustom amp board one day.

If it's an accutronics tank, then there should be a model number somewhere on it. Have you taken it out of the chassis yet as it may be hidden under the cover? Presumably it's a solid state amp? Valve reverb tanks have very different impedance characteristics to ones designed for solid state amps.

Yes, solid state amp. No, I haven't removed it yet. I am torn between stripping the board for parts and trying to fix it. It has a blown cap on the power supply, is a 30w acoustic amp with reverb and chorus. But have no cabinet or speakers for it, and don't need an acoustic amp anyway. Cost $5.

I will have a look at removing it. One day...

Should be four small bolts with rubber washers at each corner holding it in place. RCA input and output connections.
