I'm not really into the steampunk thing but... Wow, that's pretty cool!

Is that the same guitar, just speampunked, or is it a new build?

No mate, different build wasn't really enthusiastic about the original scratch plate that came with it so I thought outside the box and this is how it turned out. I put it here because the site rules suggest if you build the same style guitar you should put it in that thread. Probably should have done a new one in hindsight.

Yeah I think you'd get away with a separate thread for this one :)

Hey Fellow Guitar builders! Here is one that has been at least 12 months in the making. I bought it from Pitbull just as the Covid-19 lockdowns started. Due to restrictions and other issues didn't get round to finishing it until just recently. I like the design but wasn't really enamored with the scratch plate, which threw me into a new direction design wise. I originally had the selector switch cover and tone/volume pot covers cut out from some alloy checker plate....but changed my mind when I got some of the copper cogs for a different project. Well the end product speaks for itself I reckon. As far as the hardware on it, it is all stock standard kit hardware. The only changes were changing the Strap buttons to Strap lock ones and changing most of the mounting screws to brass flathead screws to keep the theme going which I actually used in the fret dots after drilling them out. Which I had to shorten the screws because of the lack of depth they could go. The metallic copper spray was applied to two thirds of the guitar and then I airbrushed the line work on it to give the appearance of Copper plating. The rest of the body and neck had copious amounts of Tung oil applied for protection.

Keeping these posts together - they're all the same base kit - good to see what people can do with the same base.

Ah right. Didn't realise we were looking at a gallery post. Thought this was a build diary thread. Apologies for the bum steer.

All good - easy to fix and keep it easy to find for the punters.

Any chance of the thread in question floating to the top of the first page when a new post is added, this one is 4 pages in on my PC

They are in alphabetical order.

Good question @Dave - I set them up in alphabetical order to keep the search as simple as possible, figured that regulars would see the new posts popping up in their New Post list. Happy to reset it to latest posts go to the top of the list though - anyone have a preference either way?

I reckon alphabetical makes sense to me, the new posts pop up in order here... https://www.buildyourownguitar.com.au/index.php
and again here.... https://www.buildyourownguitar.com.au/forum/search.php?searchid=1133851

I have the "Forums" page as my bookmark and automatically click on the "New Posts" tab every time I open the bookmarked page.

Works for me...
