No actual gigs happening at the moment obviously, so to keep my hordes of fans and admirers happy, and thereby prevent a complete breakdown in law and order and the very fabric of society, I've decided to do some live recordings and lob the videos up on social media.
I wanted to do these as livestreams but sadly my hacked phone isn't recognised as a camera by facebook or youtube, so these are pre-recorded, but played live with no tweakery.
I'll be posting one every day this week at about 7:45 in the evening and I'll lob the facebook and youtube links here if anyone fancies a listen.
Cheers
Drew

Session 1 - The White Tower, a song about hope, purpose, love and ultimately, of course, death.

Nice work Drew keep them coming.

I haven't even had time to think about playing as we have our house on the market, not a good time for it and it doesn't look like it will sell because we aren't prepared to drop the price to anything like the low ball offers that have been put forward ( at least $200K below what we want )

Interesting Drew.
When you said 'Road Song' I immediately went 'Yay...Wes!!!'
So took some settling in.

Geez. I can remember when 200K would buy 4 houses.
Now it's 'low-ball' beam me up, scotty.

cheers, Mark.

What software are you using for video production?

blinddrew
02-04-2020, 03:44 PM
Just using Reaper along with the audio. Because there's no real editing to do, just aligning the tracks, it's dead easy. Rendering takes a while on my ageing computer...

PJSprog
02-04-2020, 11:08 PM
Thanks. I haven't tried doing video yet in Reaper. I do like it for audio recording, though.

Enjoying your videos. Thanks for sharing them.

blinddrew
02-04-2020, 11:36 PM
Glad you're enjoying them. I've really only used Reaper for simple cut and shut stuff but the video editing tools are more comprehensive and, as usual with Reaper, if you've got coding skills you can dive in.
But if i need to do anything more complex i tend to use Final Cut Pro, Premiere or Resolve - depending on if I'm at work or home.

I really am enjoying the music, thanks.

I must say I am increasingly impressed with the sound from Cole Clark guitars. The more I hear the more I like them.

One of my jam mates has a very nice Cole Clark and let's just say, live it is sonic viagra.

I had a chance to play with one a while back, smooth and yet crisp sound and very comfortable.

blinddrew
03-04-2020, 08:52 PM
Thanks Rabbitz. I got mine about a decade ago i think. The first time they were imported into the UK. I went over to the big city and tried out the usual Martins and Taylors, plus a few other things like Yairis and Matons and just wasn't clicking with anything.
Then I picked this up and it was perfect from the first note.
As soon as i started playing it, my wife (who'd wandered off bored by this point) turned around and said, "That sounds good, what's that?" :)
And it had a cutaway, a very good pick-up, a hard case, and was in budget! :)

Stay well.

I'm hearing ya Mark, I paid $10,750.00 for my first house in Mt Pritchard back around 1970, currently valued ~ $700K

Something a bit different for session 6.
Unfortunately I got a bit of 'red light fever' and my piano playing is even more ropey than usual. And I'm no piano player at the best of times.

I'm sure this was as much a surprise to me as to anyone else, but I've actually had some more requests so another series of lockdown sessions starts tonight.

Northshore Men is a deadset ripper song.

I can just imagine the extro with a three voices, shiver down the spine stuff.

Thanks.

By the by, I like that the Norfolk Island version on bandcamp also has a false start... ;);):cool:

Nice. How is that guitar treating you?

blinddrew
25-04-2020, 02:28 AM
Thanks. :) It's my 'go to' open tuning guitar now. Gets taken on a few trips as well because it's quiet enough to play without disturbing people but loud enough to work as an acoustic.

Here's a late addition.
This is a new song written during lockdown about how we cope, and what comes next.
Cobbled together from a couple of very rough takes as it's very new (and I'm also trying to learn how to use a new video editor).
