Hi all :)

Does anyone on here have any experience with the elm option for body material on the custom section of PBG?

I've tried searching on the forum for "elm", but it doesn't get any hits

I'm just wondering what characteristics it might have (if any) which differ from ash, alder, basswood & mahogany.

Many thanks,

Steve.

I don’t think I can recall a build diary for an Elm body ar all. Might need to go digging in the archives.

Several types of Elm, so it helps to know exactly which one is being used. Presumably one available in Asia.

It’s interesting, I haven’t ever really heard of Elm tone wood before finding PitBull’s site. But in researching it I’ve only read good things about it. Since maple isn’t an option for the guitar I like, I’ll likely do my second guitar in Elm.

Check out https://www.pitbullguitars.com/custom-guitar-kits/ - Elm is an option - email customshop@pitbullguitars.com with the details and Adam or one of the crew will get back to you with the details.

I just looked at a few types of elm, of which Dutch elm is what I saw the most as a kid. The common denominator appears to be difficult to work because of interlocking grain, and quite heavy.
