    Hi from Perth

    Hello Everyone,

I bought a kit off Ebay and Adam suggested I join up and say hello. I have built a couple of partscasters before and am pretty comfortable setting up my own guitars, So i thought i would take the plunge with a kit.

I chose a Tele style with a flame maple top and bought the 27" neck as I prefer baritones. Also bought some better hardware (locking tuners, Better string trees, TUSQ nut etc.)
Already received the neck and my finish kits should be receiving everything else tomorrow!

I am still tossing up whether to route the bridge pocket for a Humbucker or go with a Stacked Tele Pickup. My father is actually a carpenter so I have access to all the tools I need but I'm still nervous to do something like use a router and risk damaging the top laminate.

Anyway I suppose the question I should be asking is do I start a new thread somewhere else for my build diary or should I just keep responding to this thread?

I am very eager to start the process! I have already researched through the forum how to remove the plastic nut and managed to knock it out with a mallet and a chisel tapping either side a few times with no problem.
Next hurdle I suppose is drilling the string through ports and biting the bullet on what bridge pick up I want to use!

I'll do some searching tonight and I'll be sure to ask if I can't find what I'm looking for!

Welcome along Rwest. Plenty of Perthites here - start a new thread under the build diaries - that way we keep everything cleaner.

Hey, man. I'm doing a similar build. I've got a quilted top tele, except I'm getting a 30" scale neck.

Awesome dude! I just found out my wife bought me a all the parts to build another tele for my birthday next week but this kit has a 27.7 Allparts tele neck so I'm keen to see which of the two lengths I prefer on a tele.

I just got all my parts today and have unboxed it all. The original neck fits like a dream but the 27" is about 2mm too wide to go in the pocket in the body. Seeing as the other neck fits the pocket perfect I'm a bit worried about widening it.
EDIT ** On Closer inspection with verniers its less than a mm (This is why i need my glasses on!) So a little bit of sanding it'll fit like a dream a reckon. Its heal is actually 1mm taller one side than the other and gives it a noticeable tilt so I will have to do a bit of careful sanding there i think too. **

I'll start a thread asking some advice haha.

Thanks for making me feel welcome guys. I will start a build diary tomorrow

Oh, yeah. The veneers are only .06mm thick according to the Pit Bull site.
