Music Man Axis Super Sport (hardtail or 2 point)

I perused the pages of suggestions here, and there were a number of EB-MM models listed.

I know there is already MM-1Q available, and I strongly considered it, but I am just NOT a Floyd Rose guy.

I love the shape of the MM Axis and the Quilt Maple top. If it was available with a hardtail or a 2-point vibrato (that can be easily blocked) I'd be all over it.

The MM-1Q kit is a 24.75" scale which I could live with, but a 25.5" would be nice. I also would prefer 1V + 1T instead of just the single volume on the kit.

Anyway, just a suggestion. Anyone else like the idea?

    Cheers

Sounds like a Custom Order for modifying MM-1Q might be the way to go.

I have a OLP Axis which a friend gave me about 15 years ago new. It has a strat style trem but otherwise is a copy of a music man Axis. It's a wonderful guitar, nice looking 'quilt' which is apparently a decal under clear, but it looks the goods. You might be able to find one of these and make some mods. They have a good name for quality and mine is outstanding. This one is the same as mine, you can see the trem. Also plenty of room in the back to add a tone control.

    Thanks andyxlh.
I was looking for a used Sterling SUB AX-3 but haven't found one. Which prompted me looking at building one.
And yes, they have the "photo-flame" tops!
Haven't heard of the OLP, but will do a search.
    Cheers

OLP were licensed by Music Man to make copies of their instruments for a few years (The name OLP stands for Officially Licensed Product) but then Music Man decided to bring the low end copies in-house and started the Sterling brand in 2009 (which becomes confusing because Sterling is also one of MM's bass ranges. Their OLP MM-2 bass (I had one for a while) is remarkably similar to the PBG MMB-4 kit.

I must say that having played a Sterling AX3 and a Music Man Axis back to back at a guitar show, they were very similar indeed in weight, shape, feel and sound. I almost bought an AX3 there and then, but was trying to be good at the time.
